Activities

edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. What will you and other organizers spend your time doing?

Day 1. Participants will be introduced to Wikimedia and Wikidata tools. We will organize a practical session for participants to contribute to Wikidata using Quickstatements, the Depictor and the close to me tool to enhance data quality.

Day 2. We will invite experienced Wikidata contributors to train participants on how to use the databox and the bio templates. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced volunteers and also create articles for items without Twi wikipedia articles.

How will you let others in your community know about your project (please provide links to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions)? Why are you targeting a specific audience?

We would share the link on all social media platforms and Wikimedia mailing list, not excluding;

What will you have done at the end of your project? How will you follow-up with people that are involved with your project?

By the end of the session,
  • The participants from the hackathon will automatically become members of the  community
  • Participants will also be able to use the Quikstatement, the Depictor and the close to me tool to do mass edits of wikidata items.
  • Translate/create Wikipedia articles and link them to Wikidata items
  • After the hackathon we will conduct a survey to determine the challenges of Participants with regards to contributing to wikidata using these tools

Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
