Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- We are planning to run 5 series of editathons and trainings over 3 months focused on writing/creating and improving articles about females in tech in the Western Region of Ghana
2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
- We have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GirlCode4Takoradi-101439801215953/ and an email list on Mailchimp amongst other google groups where information about the workshop has been shared across to gather the interest of potential or targeted participants and volunteers who will be taken through creating content for the said purpose during the workshop. We already have a Girlcode group which contains interested ladies and a hub community members of over 500 people who walk into our space on a daily basis for learning purposes https://facebook.com/Icodegh
3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?
- We have one Wikimedia editor who will be assisted by four experienced trainers at our hub https://facebook.com/Icodegh . We also have a facility manager who will be in charge of logistics and the plan implementation together with our programs manager
4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute to high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- We have a hub that comes with a co-working and a training space so the participants will be coming there to participate in the workshop. The hub also provides laptop computers to people who walk in daily to learn therefore participants who may not be having laptop computers will be given these laptops to enable them to participate in the workshop effectively.
- We also have interns who will be helping as volunteers during the training to help participants understand the steps in editing on Wikimedia. There will be the training of trainers of our volunteers as well to help facilitate the training and the editathon.
5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- Our hub is always opened to the general public, therefore, it will encourage them to keep coming to the hub for further training and assistance whenever they have the chance to. We also have a monitoring and evaluation plan to monitor the progress of the participants after the training since they will be grouped and added to a common platform such as WhatsApp to ensure frequent follow-ups
6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- We would want to do this project in two phases per year which is going to make it a 6 months project in a year since each phase will take us 3 months to complete. We are a technology and business innovation hub that provides tailored trainings and support in the area of technology and entrepreneurship, therefore, we would like to create a long term result-driven program to ensure greater impact within our communities especially in the field of women empowerment.

- There is a conscious effort in the Western Region of Ghana to inspire more females into the tech space to empower them to take up roles and study tech in school. This effort is in the bid to bridge the gap between males and females in the tech space.
This project has my full support because it will go a long way to raise more wikimedians through the training and also help to create rich content and throw more light on females in the tech space in the Western Region of Ghana. Phoebe Addison (talk) 09:10, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
