Project Goal

- Raise awareness about the Wikimedia movement and its activities in Ilorin and Kwara as a whole.
- Engage existing editors on different ways to contribute to the movement.
- Provide a networking platform/opportunity to members of the Nigerian Wikimedia community, and strengthen personal relationships amongst our members, thereby improving the community health of the Wikimedia movement overall.
- Provide a platform for learning, capacity building and sharing of experiences and ideas around Wikimedia projects.
- Provide opportunities for training of community members on program management, grants making and reporting.
- Create partnering opportunities with local organizations from the cultural and educational sector, which may span beyond the conference.

editA program committee will be set up to design a suitable program line-up for the conference. Possible program activities would include:
- Presentations on Wikimedia projects in Ilorin over the years.
- Wikidata Edit-a-thon and training session.
- Capacity building workshops and roundtables.
- Strategy Session.
- Wiki dinner and party.
- Celebration of Top Editors (Mini Award)

1. What content will the events focus on, and why is it important to your community?
- As already stated, the first day of the conference would focus on capacity building and workshops, while the second day would be used to properly celebrate Wikidata's birthday. Audience will be composed of active Ilorin Wikimedians, in order to ensure that most participants have a minimum level of Wikimedia experience so that they can engage actively in workshops and discussions. This event will also be a great opportunity to further engage members of the Ilorin Wikimedia Community.
2. How will you let people know about the events?
- We will inform existing members through our local mailing list and WhatsApp groups, and members will be advised to share the information within their social circles. Our Twitter and Facebook pages will also be used to invite members to apply to attend.
3. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
Impact
editHow will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more: The conference will be considered successful if at least:
- 50 people participate in the event.
- Train at least 30 participants on how to use project management skills and tools.
- At least 6 attendees will actively participate as speakers or workshop facilitators, but every participant will contribute to conference discussions.
- Solutions are proposed to the common issues facing the community.
- Collaborative relationships are strengthened between active Wikimedians in Ilorin.
- Best practices of promoting Wikimedia projects are exchanged in the sessions and talks.
- The resources (presentations and other materials) are saved and shared with the community to be used after the conference.
