Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- We plan to host a series of editathons at our Museum over the months of March 2021 and April 2021
Here's the link to the campaign page of the Kochi Art+Feminism Event 2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
- Our outreach for the event will be done through:
a) a web-page with information about dates/ venues
b) creation of promotional social media posts including graphics & artwork. Our social media reach on Instagram and Facebook is close to 10.000 people. c) partnership with NGO's working in women's rights. d) targeted emails to those who have attended / signed up for updates during the past Edit-a-thons [i.e. since 2019]. e) We will also reach out for press-coverage as done in the past / list our events in the Upcoming Events section of city-newspapers 3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?
- Yes we do. We have support from Wikimedians of Kerala User Group Ranjith Siji has been the main trainer at the 2019 editathon. (2020 was cancelled due to covid).
This year we are hoping to have wikimedian trainers from other states in India to promote cultural exchange. 4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Participants are provided with links to tutorials before the event, the guide to signing up on Wikipedia / editing Wikipedia and adding Commons Uploads. At the venue, they are given training again, and sometimes, also in updating Wikidata, etc. We also provide a list of women artists pages to be created or edited along with a list of online reference links, and xerox copies from books / articles from magazines etc. Equipment-wise, participants are asked to carry their own laptops to the event. Our team will support with 2-3 additional laptops when necessary.
5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- Participants are usually encouraged to carry on their editing even after the editathon is over. After the event we also send them a feedback form.
6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
- Yes, we will be carrying out in-person activities with covid-protocols in place. The Local Governmental guidelines say maximum of 50 people may gather with temperature checking, use of masks, collection of phone numbers for contact tracing etc.
At previous editathons we have had 8 to 10 participants and now during the pandemic especially we do not expect more than this number at each individual event. 7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- We joined the movement in the year 2018 with the support of The Heritage Lab and Medhavi Gandhi. We brought in local women activists, we hope that we will see an increase in participation especially in the online editathons this time around with the bias towards digital brought on by the pandemic.
We also hope that the online format will help us connect with feminist/activists in other cities.
