Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Yes, a lot of new editors have helped achieve the numbers for contributed entries. We were able to surpass the target entry for Wikisambit which is now currently on 553[1]. However, Wikikawikaan has only 807[2] entries at the moment. During November, both the Wikiquote projects of Central Bikol and Tagalog are posted on soon-to-hatched Wikis, however, due to low activities during December, it has again been removed from the list. We are still currently working on this even the #HatchAWikiProject timeframe has already lapsed. January 2022 has still been able to generate 223 edits in Wikikawikaan and 57 edits on Wikisambit. Overall, I can say that the community interest is still sustained and there is still the aim to have these wiki projects be removed in incubator status.
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
To recruit and train new editors in editing a Wikiproject under Wikimedia Incubator during 12 edit-a-thons | There are 22 users that are tracked on the hashtag tool. 14 of these users are new editors. It is to be noted that Lexiie1995 has a lot of edits during the first part of the project but was not able to put hashtags so it was not tracked on the hashtags tracker tool. For list of editors tracked by the tool, refer to Full Stats of editors. | Discussing Wikipedia to new users, especially the editing part, is already hard. When we have come to introducing the Wikimedia incubator to newbies, they would find this a little harder thinking that this project needs complex codes. The incubator projects have still prefixes included, but with the help of simple guides and templates already on a notepad, it was a lot easier for them to do the article creation. |
To improve contents of the Wikiquote platforms in Central Bikol and Tagalog language versions by 10 editors at least | There are 1141 revisions and 791 pages tracked by the hashtag tracker tool. The top editor for the project was my co-Wikimedia Kunokuno and followed by me with 235 edits, Markden24 with 95 edits, to be followed by others. [3] | There still would need to improve the articles contributed considering that most of them are stub articles. It was mostly the contributions of Markden24 with almost completed translation and with photos. The project has also overlapped with the WPWP campaign by which it was able to add photos for the stub articles. It was also edited by editors for the #SheSaid campaign which has also helped add articles in relation to female biographies. |
To promote Wikisambit and Wikikawikaan to the community by reaching the 500th article in Wikisambit and 1000th entry in WikiKawikaan | As mentioned, the target for Wikisambit was reached but for Wikikawikaan, we still lack 200 entries to reach the 1000th but community members are working on it this month and for the succeeding months as they have stated during our final evaluation for this project. | The month of December 2021 should have been the month by which we should have the most edits, however, it was also the month in which most of our volunteer editors are inactive. Probably it was a holiday season and we encountered some circumstances that have disrupted the momentum for editing. By January, we have commenced with the activities, thus we were able to have four active editors for Wikisambit and nine for Wikikawikaan. As of February 2022, the Wikikawikaan has 1,353 entries and the Wikisambit has 554 entries. |

Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
It was in September that the group decided to make HatchAWiki its priority project, having a specific page on Meta which stated its history, overview, targets for 2021, and the team members. It has helped a lot to see the actual structure of the project. Please see this Hatch-A-Wiki Page.
- What did not work so well?
The project aim was to only improve these two wiki projects, but it has not been able to determine which article categories are to be targeted. We only resorted to having to click the random page, and what would appear will be translated into Central Bikol and Tagalog. We have not been able to maximize the local resources we have in the Philippines, which would make the local wiki quotes have their own identity rather than a collection of translations. It would somehow appear that these were only translated versions of the English quotes.
- What would you do differently next time?
As we will still be working with these wiki projects intensively for the next six months, we will prioritize having to use the local resources. That would include actual notable Philippine people and their famous quotations. It was only later that we observed that the English Wikiquote still lacks quotes from famous Philippine people. By this time, it would be having to translate Central Bikol and Tagalog into English, so we can also add an abundance of articles in English Wikiquote.

Anything else
editAnything else you want to share about your project?
It was still a success even if it was not able to be released on incubator status after months of working on it, looking at how the involved editors are still continuing on developing these two target projects. Hopefully, we can maintain the activities on these wiki projects and finally release them both before 2022 ends. I would also suggest, if possible in the future, supporting translations for requesting and reporting, especially for minority languages. I was lucky enough to have my community members assist me on how I can properly write and integrate all this information into a formal report, being English is my third language.
