Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Yes! We did meet our goals and that's so exciting. The most amazing thing is we were able to go beyond our initial target. I'm so so happy with the project, it brings us alot of experience. We were able to put a large number of new editors in a hall and shared experience. And our experience editors has teach them alot.
A lot of people were aware about Wikipedia and it sister project. And many people show keen interest in editing Wikipedia.
That's so exciting!
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
50 | 55 | Yes we were able to reach our Target and even go beyond within the days of the 3 events we were able to register more than the initial target. |
50 | 53 | we also reach and pass this target. We were able to add more than 50 new articles and we polish more articles as planned. This is exciting. And you can read the work through this Hastag #HWE |
Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
Well! A lot of things went well for instance. .At igabi local government, we had to do the program twice a day, this is because of the large number of people that were present at the event. we had to sent other back due to covid protocol and ask them to come later and also attend the event.
.Secondly, We have a large number of people present at the event. In all of the local government, we were able to reach all our targets and the presentations, skills sharing and experience were amazing.
.We were able to share experience, the new editors have previlage of receiving information first hand, alot of questions were being asked and they were been responded to effective immediately.
.Large number of women and girls participate in this project which is also an achievement, we can all see it through the images we capture at the events.
.We were able to reach people at remote places more especially at igabi local government, this is because we use local media to advertise the project 2 days to the event.
- What did not work so well?
.We have many difficulties finding a suitable hall in Igabi local government, this is due to the locality of the place. We had to use a local hall in that particular local government, we also have problem with the white board, the projector and also the light. We have to make an instant arrangements for the light and projector. Which cost us a lot of money. We also have to hire computers and travelled them down to that place which is also costly and we did not plan for that. But we were able to do the event successfully.
.It's raining season here in Nigeria and in Kaduna state, so we also have problems with rain which leads to postpontment of the events. To later dates. Not as we planned initially. This also cost some little amount of charges for the halls of the events. These are the majority difficulties we faced
- What would you do differently next time?
This project gives me an experience of knowing how to reach people more. I plan to train and reach out to people more online, using the local social media platforms.
.What really surprised me is despite the fact that some areas we visit and the people that came to the event whom some are from local villages they all use social media. More especially Facebook and WhatsApp. So with these experience I plan to train and reach out to more people online.
.I also have this plan of teaching out editors and the new users on how to upload photos in commons this is because it's something they been asking before and during the project.
