Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Sure! The goals were met and I am so excited with how the project went and for the success achieved in this project.
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
Page Views | Target met | The page views were measured using the Wiki Stats Tool and is found to have an increase. |
Events participants 40 | 42 | I obtained a total number of 42 participants who were present at the event and this number is known because it was recorded on the registration sheets of the attended participants containing their personal information like name, phone numbers and email addresses which I used further to engage the participants. |
Active new users | 26 | Out of the 42 participants, I obtained a number of 26 new strongly active users on Fulfulde Wikipedia. I learned this through the Outreach Dashboard Tracking Tool I created immediately after the event and added the participants' user names in order to learn the real impact of my engagement with them. So, through this, I learned that 26 more than half of the attended participants were actively starting to contribute in accordance with the Wikimedia's missions and were able to made a total of 169 edits; created 18 new articles, improved 45 existing articles, added 42.5K bytes and made 13.1K article page views. The Dashboard can be access here [1] |
Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
Well, I guess the most important thing here is that I didn’t get too much trouble in convincing people to participate during the days of the awareness campaign, the people welcomed the event and accept it with open hands. Consequently, the conduciveness of the venue has soothed the hot weather problem in the city which may give rise to dispiriting of the participants. Additionally, the security departments have giving us the optimum support required by sending security officers from both DSS and police offices to ensure that we had a very peaceful and successful event.
- What did not work so well?
The projector we used was not too clear and although I have requested to tested a day before the event and demanded the hall manager to provide us with another. What happened was that the VGA port of the new projector brought wasn’t functioning while the other alternative cable to plug wasn’t available in the computer system we were using. So, we have to manage with the first projector and use it.
- What would you do differently next time?
In the next time, I will do all my best to make sure that faulty in equipment to be used are thoroughly mediated and that alternates for any of them is provided to make sure we are well prepared for the unexpected.
