Report accepted
This report for a Rapid Grant approved in FY 2020-21 has been reviewed and accepted by the Wikimedia Foundation.

Goals

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

The two of the goals, number of uploaders and images used in the wiki projects, were almost achieved. But because of the lockdown just before and during the contest period due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the contest was badly affected and the photographers were not able to go out and take photos of the monuments. Taking photos during the pandemic was a big challenge. Which leads to the low number of uploads. But we the team and the community are happy with the results and satisfied with the number of uploads.

Learning

edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
The team shared information about the contest through social media platforms, email, and were able to engage few professional photographers as well. Because of that we were able to get a good number of uploads besides the challenge due to the Pandemic.
  • What did not work so well?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we are unable to organize any kind of events for the interested photographers and photowalks to take the photos of the cultural heritages in Nepal.
  • What would you do differently next time?
If everything goes to normal, next year we will try to organize the contest nation-wide and engage more peoples from all over the Nepal.
