Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? Yes, we met our project goals. Happy about the project and the experience gained.
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
Number of events - 4 | 4 | There were 4 live sessions on Google meet and multiple follow-up & mentorship sessions on the Whatsapp platform. Here is a link to the [page] |
Number of participants - 20 | 36 | Members of the IG Wikidata Hub community were very eager to participate.
However, 7 users made 0 edits during the project lifespan. Vanessadokotri & Sofine9 had challenges with school work and kept promising to make edits but couldn't (They promised to join in on a future project). BoviMacoco joined the project late but got unhappy when someone else did his assigned work without first contacting him. Dolapo Ayinla, Ayomiporsi01, Emekaj90 and Abanise3020 are yet to respond to my enquiries as to why they didn't make any edits. All participants are now members of the IG Wikidata Hub community and are registered in the WhatsApp group where i will be taking time to followup and ensure they make tangible edits in subsequent projects |
Number of new editors - 5 | 5 | |
Number of of articles created or improved - 50 | 82 | 82+ unique Items created (Including all 50 items listed in the grant application. Link to dashboard |
Number of subject topic photos taken - 98 | 98 | All 98 photos were used in Wikimedia projects. Here is a link to the Wikimedia Commons Category. |
Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
I think Google Meet was a better platform as it helped me control the number of participants per time. Also, i had to create infographics after every live session as the time allocated for sessions proved too short for participants to grasp the more tougher steps. Find infographics here 1, 2, 3. Hopefully, they are still useful in the future.
- What did not work so well?
Depending too much on demonstrations during the live sessions. There was a lot of internet connectivity challenges and so many participants got lost during the live sessions.
- What would you do differently next time?
I will give infographics more priority and distribute them at least 1 day before a live session so that participants can get familiar before each live session.
