Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. How many walks/tours will you organize and how many people on each walk?
- 6 photowalks with 4 photographers
2. What kind of content will the walks focus on? Why is this topic a priority?
- We will focus on public sculptures including public statues as most of these items have no photos on Wikimedia commons which in turn affects their use on Wikipedia articles and Wikidata. Many more of these public sculptures have no complete data on Wikidata. Some of the public sculptures are:
Waka-The Big Foot (Ojodu, Lagos), Virtues of Life (Lekki, Lagos), Community (Agege, Lagos), From Èbúté (Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Lagos), Bonga-Fish (Epe, Lagos), Baba Onisekere (Ayetoro Junction, Osogbo), Yeye Osun (Dugbe Junction, Osogbo), É káàbò (Iwo Road, Ibadan), The Drummer (Ikorodu, Lagos), Adekunle Fajuyi(Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti), Iba Oluyole (Béèrè, Ibadan), The Fisherman (Badagry, Lagos), Welcome to Nigeria ( Muritala Muhammed Airport, Lagos), Lisabi Agbongbo Akala(Itoku, Abeokuta), Sango-Timi (Ede, Osun)
3. What is the plan to ensure images will be used on Wikimedia projects?
- We plan to organize an edit-a-thon to upload these photos on commons and use same on Wikipedia and Wikidata.
4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Yes, all 4 photographers are professional photographers
5. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- This project will create awareness about Wikimedia commons and how to harness the use of photos on Wikipedia and Wikidata.
6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
- No
