Grants:Project/Rapid/Pratik/VideoWiki 2019/Report
Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Yes, we met our original project goals, and are more than happy with the progress we made since the first grant.
After talking to Wikipedians and getting their feedback, we realized that there was a learning curve in using VideoWiki. To mitigate this, we built an "all-on Wikipedia" approach where a Wikipedian can edit the script/media on a wiki-page itself, and the video can be auto-generated by VideoWiki from the content on the wiki-script. Since the script-writing and media edition happens on the wiki-page itself, the learning curve required is low as Wikipedians are familiar with editing wiki pages. This was the single biggest feature as we had to re-vamp the entire structure of VideoWiki.
Apart from the above-mentioned restructuring, we have developed key features such as supporting multiple images/videos on each slide, the ability to translate videos in languages which do not have a TTS engine, etc.

- What worked well?
- What did not work so well?
- What would you do differently next time?
