Goals

Results of the project

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Yes. It was the pilot project (”proof of principle”) conducted on the ”Targeted Project” methodology, and it met all the proposed goals, proving that the concept is working.

We managed to develop a solid partnership with the History Faculty of the University Babeș-Bolyai, from Cluj.

A total number of 61 new editors, edited 1.220 articles and created 974 new articles on Romanian Wikipedia. Subsequently, a number of 219 images were uploaded to Commons.

The success of the project triggered incentive from other universities to develop similar projects, during 2019.

Even if it was not a specific goal of the project, it contribute to the alleviation of the gender gap, on Romanian Wikipedia. 32 (52.5̬%) of the new editors were female editors and all the 6 edtitors that made more than 150 edits were also female editors.

Raise awareness about Wikimedia projects, in general, and WMROMD projects, in special	Achieved.	We managed to conclude our first collaboration partnership with a university, which was enthusiastic and agree to conduct the project as a didactic task in the curricula of the History course. There were delivered four special dedicated presentations, both for the Wikimedia projects and for WMROMD projects. The project reach a good media coverage, both in the local media and on a channel of the national television As a result, the university agree to continue the partnership with WMROMD during 2019, and another one, University of Medicine, Pharmacy and Technology Science from Târgu Mureș officialy requested us to conduct a similar project in 2019.
Encouraging potential contributors to participate and recruiting new editors	Achieved.	A total number of 61 new editors participated in the project, some of them participating in all the three phases of it. All the participants were students of the university. 49 editors in the phase 1 16 editors in the phase 2 7 editors in the phase 3
Developing skills of the editors	Achieved.	All the editors learned to create short and standardized biographic articles. Some of the new editors made significant progress during the project, as follow 1 editor with more than 600 edits 1 editor with more than 400 edits 1 editor with more than 200 edits 3 editors [1], [2] ,[3] with more than 150 edits 12 articles longer than 10.000 bytes were created, the most developped being [4] or [5]
Creating or improving a significant numbers of articles related to this very important event in the history of Romania	Achieved.	During the project, we reach the next milestonesː 1.220 articles edited 974 new articles created on Romanian Wikipedia 219 images uploaded to Commons 667.000 words added
Demonstrating and learning how collective editing works	Achieved.	The editing process was focused on an integrated collaborative work, with the students editing the article, the teacher overseeing and assigning task and the Wikipedia facilitator providing the technical guidance.
Providing quality training and support for the new editors	Achieved.	The course started with an online ”train the trainers” course, in which a number of willing students learned the basic editing techniques to the level that they were able to assist the teachers and the Wikipedia facilitator in learning the other students. The specialized support for editors were provided directly and permanently by the Wikipedia facilitator.
Developing a friendly and collaborative work environment	Achieved.	Most of the students appreciated this project and the good atmosphere during the editing process.

The funds remaining from this grant in the amount of US$5.36 were deducted from another grant payment for Grants:Project/Rapid/WMROMD/1lib1ref_2019_in_Romania_and_Moldova.
