Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

• This is the second in an annual series of edit-a-thons in the Indianapolis metropolitan area related to Indiana women’s history. The daylong event for 2019 will be held at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields on March 1, 2019. The topic is Indiana women in the arts.
• The sponsoring partners for the 2017 edit-a-thon, which included the Indiana Women’s History Association, Indiana Humanities, the Indiana Historical Bureau, the Indiana State Library, the Indiana Department of Historical Preservation and Archaeology, and the Indiana Historical Society, held the area’s first Indiana women’s history Wikipedia edit-a-thon at the Indiana State Library on October 21. The event’s 30 editors made 870 edits to 99 articles. The sponsors of event felt that the enthusiastic turnout and ongoing interest in documenting women’s history in the state could support more Wikipedia edit-a-thons with varying women’s history topics. The topic for the 2017 event was Indiana women in STEM.

2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.

• To reach Wikimedia editors the edit-a-thon details will be posted on Wikimedia event and meet-up calendars for March 2019 and forwarded to related leaders of related WikiProjects, especially those focusing on the arts and women’s history. We anticipate the postings will be made in early February 2019, when final details of the event have been confirmed.
• In addition, individual invitations to the event will be posted on username talk pages of Wikimedia editors in Indiana, or those who frequently contribute to Indiana-related Wikimedia projects, as well as the contributors to articles at the 2017 edit-a-thon event.
• We will create an event for the edit-a-thon through Eventbrite and promote it to the public through digital media posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to followers of the non-profit organizations and public institutions involved in hosting the 2019 edit-a-thon. Members of the organizing committee are affiliated with the Indiana Women’s History Association, the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, the Indiana Historical Bureau, the Indiana Department of Historical Preservation and Archaeology, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis’s Center for Digital Scholarship and the Herron School of Art and Design, and the Indiana Historical Society. We will also email the attendees and presenters from the 2018 Hoosier Women at Work History Conference, which focused on women in the arts.

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?

• Yes, the recent formation of an Indiana Wikimedia usergroup in the Indianapolis area in 2018 will provide expertise for articles in English Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons. The Indiana usergroup includes experienced editors from the National Archives and Records Administration, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis’s Center for Digital Scholarship, and the Indiana Historical Society, as well as individual contributors to Wikipedia projects.

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

• Due to space limitations for the 2019 event, the group will be capped at 25 participants. The Indiana Wikimedia usergroup will support the event with training and coaching support from at least 4 experienced Wikimedians (roughly 6 attendees for each Wikimedia volunteer).
• As the host site for the event, the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields is providing logistical support and event space. Participants may bring their own laptops and use the museum’s WiFi network. If needed, one of the event sponsors will able to provide twelve laptops for editors’ use.
• Representatives from the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, the Indiana Historical Bureau, IUPUI Herron Art Library, and the Indiana Women’s History Association will be in attendance to provide content expertise, as well as print and digital reference support.

5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)? All Edit-a-thon attendees will be invited to join the newly-formed Indiana Wikimedia usergroup, which will begin monthly meetings in Indianapolis in January 2019. This new usergroup was formed in late 2018 by area Wikipedians affiliated with the National Archives and Records Administration, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis’s Center for Digital Scholarship, and the Indiana Historical Society.

6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project? The event sponsors are moving forward with plans for the event. The date has been selected (March 1, 2019); the event facilities have been reserved/confirmed at the Indianapolis Museum of Art; a tentative schedule for the event has been drafted; and a list of potential article and topics is being developed.

Impact

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

1. Number of events: the grant funding request is only for the one edit-a-thon event planned for 2019 (March 1); the next event in the Indiana women's history series is slated for 2020, with topics related to women's suffrage; however, the grant request does not include this event since plans are not yet finalized.
2. Number of participants: 25 (the maximum number of participants allowed due to space limitations)
3. Number of new editors: 15
4. Number of of articles created or improved: 30 to 40
5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events): 10 (from the 2017 edit-a-thon participants and the 2018 Indiana women's history conference attendees)

Resources

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

• The Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, the host site, will provide space for the event as an in-kind donation. The Indianapolis Museum of Art requires the use of an in-house caterer for its on-site events.
• The Indiana Women's History Association will responsible for making the arrangements for event refreshments using the Wikimedia grant funds. In addition, the Association will assist in coordinating the participant registrations for the event.
• The Indiana Historical Bureau will provide additional laptops for participants' use, if needed, at no cost to the attendees. The Bureau will also assist with participant registrations for the event.
• All of the event sponsors will help promote the event as an in-kind donation.
• Other than the Wikimedia funding for the event refreshments, the event will be supported through in-kind donations from the event sponsors.
