Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What is your promotion plan?
You can do a campaign involving billboards or rickshaw announcements to promote a Wikimedia projects, such as Santali Wikipedia, at different places in a city. You can promote an online campaign such as Wiki Loves Monuments on Facebook, Twitter, etc using ads. You can also create gifs/slideshows or other easy to make multimedia files and use them to promote your project on social media.
- Here in Nepal, people use printed forms of calendar to check holidays, keep track of appointments, festivals and note a vacation. In view of this, we got the idea of Wiki-informative Calendar. This will be an updated version of Hindu calendar. It will not only include the normal calendar things, but also interesting facts and photographs taken from featured/good articles and files of the Wikipedia and Wikimedia commons respectively. Wiki-informative Calendar will offer year-round exposure of Wikimedia projects to the students of different universities, research enthusiasts and professionals who are unaware about Wikimedia projects.
2. How will you let your community know about the promotion campaign?
Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
- We will let others know about the project by various means. They are mentioned as follows:
- {{Main Page/WM News}}
- Mass message(s) on-wiki
- Bulk SMS
- Messages/posts on social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
- E-mail(s) etc.
3. Do you have any experience in promoting Wikimedia projects either online or offline?
Were you involved in a similar project in the past? Do you have any other experience related to online/offline promotion?
- Yes, we have decent experiences in promoting Wikimedia projects both online and offline. Our last project WACN/Activities/The Billboards Initiative; Please see User:Tulsi Bhagat/Events & outreach for detailed information.
4. What is your post-promotion plan?
What do you plan to do after your project ends?
- After the project ends, we will follow-up interested people through offline meetups, social media(s), group chat(s), hangouts and email(s). We also hope to create a task force team which will further assist with Wikipedia enthusiasts to help contributing.
5. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- This project will be the first of its kind in the promotion of Wikimedia projects. We will further ensure that the placement of Wiki-Informative calendars will provide year round exposure to Wikimedia projects and inspire many knowledge seekers to dive into world's free online encyclopedia.
Also, we will organize meetup with the team member(s) and involved volunteer(s) at the end. We will discuss on: what worked well, what didn't work well, and what would we do differently next time. We will also talk about the future parts of WACN, and the work to be done by task force team.
