Activities

edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

We will be hosting or conducting a 2 days training in Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) in collaboration with the Africa Wikimedia Developers (AWMD) Team, to create awareness about the technical or development aspect of the Wikimedia Movement and to build the capacity of participants in areas that they may be lagging yet important to becoming a volunteer developer in the movement.

We hope to achieve this via:

  • Awareness creation;
  • Training and capacity building;
  • Ensuring a continuous communication to enforce a going concern.

2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?

We currently have the AWMD Team with experience with this project to lead the event. Also we have experience editors from our community who will support the project.

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, invited participants are experienced developers from Côte d'Ivoire.

5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

We will ensure sustainability of this project through the initiation or creation of developer communities in Côte d'Ivoire. There will also be constant engagement through the mailing list african-wikimedia-developers@lists.wikimedia.org and through the leaders of the communities created.

6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The community can find out more about our activities and plans here - Africa Wikimedia Developers Project.

edit

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Have at least 20 people attend the event.
  2. Recruit a minimum of 15 volunteers.
