Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. What will you and other organizers spend your time doing?
- This is an one day Wiki conference for teachers in Skopje. As a speakers, we already invited and we have their confirmation, Wikipedians who are also teachers. Preparations will go as this:
- Before August 10 = Negotiation with a several conference halls which are suitable for this purpose. We found the one which we will be able to get with discount on the rent price. We already had confirmation from four Wikipedians who are also teachers, to speak on the conference. Preparing a framework of the program.
- 10 August - 31 August = preparing the grant request; continue working on the program.
- 1 September - 18 October = We will work on promotion before the event at schools in Skopje. Besides media promotion, we are going to send volunteers to visit secondary schools and High schools in Skopje, in order to talk with teachers and answer the questions they'll have. Also, one of our volunteers will have to maintain a list of interested teachers who will attend the conference. At the same time, we are going to work on: design and printing of the promotional materials; pursue the office supplies, catering for the event, etc.
- 19 October = The day of the Wiki conference.
- 20 October - 20 November = Writing reports, and evaluating the event.
How will you let others in your community know about your project (please provide links to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions)? Why are you targeting a specific audience?
- In April 20, we had Wiki conference for teachers in Skopje for the first time. There was a big interest for this conference. We were unable to accept all interested teacher last time, and we expect the same interest in October. We found that there is a need to teach the teachers on how to use Wikipedia in the classroom. As this will be the second conference of this kind in Skopje, we expect a lot of interested teachers to participate. We target the specific audience, because the speakers will talk mostly about using Wikipedia in education process. We will announce the event on the Facebook and in the media, as we did it the first time.
What will you have done at the end of your project? How will you follow-up with people that are involved with your project?
- We are going to survey after the event with questions as: Do the teachers find the conference useful and which part? Do they learn something new, and what is it they learned? Do they have more clear picture about Wikipedia and how to use Wikipedia in the classroom? etc. At the end, we plan to give the teachers all our contacts: e-mail address, Facebook page, even phone numbers, in order to assist them in the further questions.
