User:Agbalagba/Yoruba Language Wikipedia Workshop
Yoruba Wikipedia is one of the three Nigerian languages Wikipedia. Others are Hausa and Igbo Wikipedia. As at June 2015, it was the 3rd largest African language Wikipedia with about 31,068 articles. Unfortunately, it's growth has declined due to low contributions by native speakers of the language. I am an active editor on Yoruba Wikipedia with over 50 articles created. In addition, I am a native speaker of Yoruba Wikipedia and hold a degree in adult education and Yoruba language. Also, I fully participated in a series of workshops by Asaf Bartov of WMF in Lagos State, Nigeria. I plan to organize a two-day Yoruba Wikipedia workshop for selected native speakers of Yoruba language and Yoruba language teachers. They will be train on how to contribute to Yoruba Wikipedia and use the content translation tool to translate articles on English Wikipedia into Yoruba Wikipedia.

  •   Support This is a good step in the right direction. We need more of this in order to improve and increase our local contents on language Wikipedia Olaniyan Olushola (talk) 05:45, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
  •   Support With millions of Yoruba speaking/reading people gaining access to the internet, and many more getting in each day, it's eminent we plug in efforts to make the Yoruba Wikipedia viable. High schools, varsities, libraries, institutions and more in and out of Nigeria are always in need of Wikipedia's content in Yoruba. This project will help build, train, encourage, mobilize a committed community of Wikipedians. So much underestimated work to be done. Danidamiobi (talk) 17:34, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
  •   Support And yes, we need to keep filling the gap by expanding on content in various languages. This is another wonderful step to accomplish this goal. Wonderful steps to increase Yoruba Wikipedia for the Yoruba content in Nigeria. Great one, so endorsed :) --Alangi Derick (talk) 18:48, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
  • Project goals are realistic and clearly spelt out. Yoruba is big and needs every support and attention. Rberchie (talk) 10:12, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
