Goals

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

We were not able to meet two of our goals . We recruited new editors through a competition launch but due to funds that delayed we did not hold subsequent events.

  1. Recruit new editors
  2. Increase skills for existing editors
  3. Add or improve content

Outcome

edit

Please report on your original project targets.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
Recruit new editors We hosted only one event due to delayed funds
Increase skills for existing editors Through social media promotions but no actual face face training
Add or improve content Yes 169 photos submitted in the competition

Learning

edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well

We were able to launch the competition in western Uganda which had never been done . Previously ,our focus had been in Kampala.

We were able to use another form of media (radio) to advertise the competition which helped us reach an audience in a part of the country that we could not access through social media

The extended deadline gave competitors the opportunity to upload more content.

  • What did not go well?

We were not able to follow our competition plan due to delayed funds but we focused on online campaigns .

Despite a big response from the community and continuous updates on competition guidelines , a large number of uploads were rejected for a number of reasons but mostly because of content quality.

  • What would you do differently next time?

Apply for funds earlier .

Have better planning processes before the competition.

Use other means of communication to complement social media for publicity.
