Summary
editOver the course of one year, Wikimedia Thailand conducted many activities and reach a number of milestones. We participated photo and article contests including Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Monuments and Wikipedia Asian Month. We also introduced the Mentor Project and One article, one or more images project. However, the present grant report only focuses on the Wiki Loves Monuments photo competition, although some of the results of Wiki Asian Month was mentioned.
- Wiki Loves Earth and Wiki Loves Monuments
It was our 7th Wiki Loves Monuments. Number of photographs submitted for WLM were 1,852. Number of people involved were also similar to the previous years. In terms of quality, we noticed there was a slight reduction in terms quality possibly due to a slightly lower number of submission in comparison with 2018. One photograph from Thailand by user:Nawit Science won the fourth prize in the WLM international competition.

- Number of articles created or improved: 100 articles
- Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: 1,000 uploads
- Number of photos winning the international competition: at least 1 photo(s)
Outcomes
edit- Photo and article contests
Project metrics
Project metrics | Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
We expected at least 1,000 uploads for the WLM. | We had 1,852 . | Target reached. We received more than 1,000 uploads, although the number of uploads remained somewhat lower than 2018.
We expected the submitted photographs (for WLE and WLM) to win international prizes. | One photograph won international prizes. | Target reached. No photograph from Thailand won the international WLE or WLM.
We expected 100 articles created or improved and at least 30 volunteers to participate in the WAM. | only 75 articles were created during WAM. | Target not reached. We were 33% short of the target. |
Learning
edit- Even we did employ several strategies such as social media advertisement and communication channels of our sponsors, number of submissions for WLE and WLM remained somewhat equivalent to the previous year.
- There is always a compensation between number of submissions and quality of submissions. We observed that when number of submissions is high, it is usually accompanied by a noticeable reduction in quality.
- In order to increase the quality of submission, we plan to initiate collaboration with photography clubs and the press.
- We also plan to conduct photo walks in the future. Our affiliate has never conducted or sponsored a photo walk before. So conducting photowalks is the area worthy of future exploration.
