Samatics/WikiActivate Gungbe
Following the success of the Wikipedia 20 celebration at Badagry Black History Museum and the subsequent follow-up training, We have begun test project for Gungbe Wikipedia on Incubator. Gun(gungbe) is a language spoken by a population of more than 1,100,000 people in Both Nigeria and Benin. Presently, we have become the second local language in Nigeria and Benin to have completed the translation of MediaWiki (most important messages) into gungbe, thus meeting the localisation requirement. See here and here. We plan to emulate the success of the Dagbani Wikipedia by being consistent in creating contents on the incubator. Our activity status is encoraging as shown here. This project is aimed at activating the Gungbe Language community by recruiting gungbe editors that will contribute to the success of the Gungbe Wikipedia and in turn begin contributing to other Wikimedia projects such as Wikidata. These will be achieved by organising trainings and editathons that will help create and translate articles to the Gungbe Wikipedia on incubator.

Endorsements

edit

Community members are encouraged to endorse your project request here!

  • I endorse this project because just as the Tyap Wikipedia project presently in the Incubator, and the recently launched Dagbanli Wikipedia, the Gungbe Wiki project would be a plus to reaching the unreached of minority groups of Africa and the world at large in line with Wikipedia Foundation's 2030 Strategic goals. So I support it. Kambai Akau (talk) 08:16, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
