Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Even though preparing the infobooth was a real challenge with the post office materials and userː kurioziteti and userːpazzx being under age and could not make it to come, we managed to have a successful infobooth. Userː Olsi replaced Leon(userː kurioziteti) and Rilind(userːpazzx) and everything went according to our plan. In the conference participated more than 300 people and the infobooth part was the most successful one. Since the infobooth culture its not common in Albanian people were very interested in this section of the conference. A lot of people stopped to talk and to know more about Wikimedia and other projects. Printing materials in Albanian was a very good idea and we think that this brought more questions from participants. Since mostly of the participants were tech people they were very interested on Wikidata project and MediaWiki. We will try to have as many information as we can how to get involve on the follow up that we're planing.
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
20 new people | 23 | we manged to register at least 23 new potential editors. We will have a follow up in June with those who completed the registration form and of course other ones who are interested |
promoting wikipedia albania and other projects | except the infobooth we hosted an Wikimedia meeting as well with all the volunteers and other people interested on Wikipedia. |
Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
Translating promotion material was a very good idea.
- What did not work so well?
Receiving the swags was a real challenge. Our post system is always late and its very hard to communicate with them. The package from Wikimedia was in Albania in 4 days, and it took 6 days to get it from custom office. And the custom fee is very high. So next time we have to figure out how to receive it faster(from our post office) and how to pay less money for the custom.
- What would you do differently next time?
Print more materials from more projects. We didnt have materials about mediawiki and there were some people interested in that project. So next time we will try to print more in Albanian language.
