Grants:Simple/Applications/Wikimedia South Africa/2019/annualplan

This page describes the annul plan for 2019 of Wikimedia South Africa(WMZA).

Priorities

edit

The main goal of Wikimedia ZA is to diversify, augment and improve the content about South Africa on Wikimedia projects and to increase the contribution of South Africans in Wikimedia projects with a particular emphasis on expanding the diversity of South African editors whilst growing the community. This is outlined in WMZA's strategic plan 2019.

To achieve this goal, Wikimedia ZA has identified six priorities for 2019:

  • Increase chapter membership
  • Increase the public awareness of Wikipedia
  • Increase the range and quality of content on Wikipedia on South African subjects
  • Grow South African language Wikipedias
  • Entrench chapter capacity
  • Promote copyright reform

In order to achieve this WMZA has chosen two programs that reflect our theory of change.

  1. Outreach with possible partner organisations to effectively implement goal meeting projects such as South African language editathons or upload marathons that expand local content on Wikimedia projects.
  2. Chapter support for local editors to contribute to Wikimedia projects and participate in broader community.

As such all projects carried out by Wikimedia ZA will fall under one of these two program types. Their respective objectives supporting WMZA's six priorities.

With certainty

edit

Due to the large number of suggested projects and plans (17 in total) and a reliance on volunteers only it is unlikely that the chapter will be able to implement all proposed projects in the 2019 period. As such the chapter board and project implements will have to decided on the most promising projects.

However certain projects are already slated for certain implantation in 2019. These projects are outlined in the table below.
