Regarding GLAM activities, Wikimedia Community of the Republic of Srpska will focus on expansion and advancement of current GLAM program through serie of activities within projects Trace of Soul and Wiki Ambassador.
Wiki Ambassador
The Wiki ambassador in the Republic of Srpska is a project that implies the implementation of the Vikimedians and the Vikipedians in educational, GLAM or similar institutions in order to collect relevant data that is difficult to come by due to lack of literature on the Internet. During 2016, it was first realized in the Republic of Srpska, and on that occasion, 170 referenced articles were created in Serbian Wikipedia. Specifically, with this project, cooperation with two GLAM institutions are planned. A total of three delegates from the ranks of the Wikimedians of the Republic of Srpska would be delegated for this job.
In one GLAM institution - the Institute for the Research of the History of Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in Banja Luka, the most important city in the Republic of Srpska, an ambassador would hold five editing workshops during five working days during which exclusively high quality articles would be created. Also, on that occasion, the ambassador would train staff to work on Wikipedia and to use the Wikimedia Commons. In addition, a part of the significant archive material on the history of Serbs in BiH would be released and placed on the Wikimedia Commons.
The second part of the activity would be realized at the Museum of Old Herzegovina in Foča. On that occasion, the ambassador, in addition to staff training, will hold two thematically focused editing workshops. By working with employees, quality articles would be written and, later on, they would be a link to QR codes, which would enrich the permanent exhibition of the Museum. In order to reduce the potential risks, a discussion was held with the representatives of the aforementioned institutions and an agreement was reached on potential cooperation in the said projects and in the stated manner.
The project will enrich the content of VM projects, especially sr. Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons with content relevant to cultural, historical and natural heritage, tourism and ecology, the history of Serbs in BiH, and the history of Herzegovina. A large number of grouped and ordered facts will give 90 new articles with a large number of data and references that testify to their reliability. The quality of articles and a great deal of data and facts is guaranteed by cooperation with the relevant institutions from the mentioned, relevant areas.

Education
The educational program of our community is intended for all educational-scientific institutions in the country (schools, faculties, institutes) and aims to spread the free and all available knowledge, as well as to raise awareness of its significance.
At the beginning of 2018, the community realized the planned activities in the field of education program. In line with its strategic goals, the emphasis was on extending the program in terms of involving as many institutions as possible in the cooperation, expanding the territorial scope of activities and building the reputation of the community through cooperation with eminent state educational institutions. This trend has been continued.

GLAM
Wiki Loves Republika Srpska - Trace of Soul photo-contests
In the framework of the GLAM program, we, now traditionally, also implemented the 2018 Trace of Soul Project - a project that brings together WLM and WLE into one. This year the project was also well received by the participants and partners. Thanks to the previous good results and the campaign that has been running in the past three years, the Trace of the Soul project has almost become our trademark and project we are best recognized for in the local community. The realization of the project The Trace of Soul 2018 has run in three phases - preparatory part, realization, announcement of the results of the competition at the final ceremony - exhibitions of winning photographs.
- Preparatory phase
In the preparatory phase, we had to deal, in the first place, with the updating of the lists. We contacted the Republic Institute for the Protection of the Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage of the Republic of Srpska and received relevant information on the status of certain monuments, as well as the information of new monument entries to the list of protected goods. In addition, with the requested information, we received a certificate of partnership as well as the full support of the Institute in the realization of our project. Based on the information obtained, our lists were updated both on the site and in Wikipedia. In addition, the coordinates of the monuments were added. In addition to updating the lists, the preparatory phase involved sending letters and communicating with preferred partners, as well as with the media. In addition, within the community, jobs were divided and everything was pre-defined - the dates of the accompanying activities (photo-tour and editing workshops), monuments that were not represented were identified, areas were mapped and photo-tours were specified. Also, it was necessary to send letters and requests to the priests in charge of certain parishes for permission to photograph certain monasteries and churches.
- Project realization
The realization of the project itself meant monitoring the flow of the competition and providing technical support to the competitors where needed and the implementation of the accompanying activities - photo-tour and editing workshops.
- Competition
The competition was open to participants from August 1 to September 30, 2018. During the contest 67 participants sent 2.161 photographs of protected natural and immovable cultural and historical goods of Republika Srpska. Additionally, it's important to note that this year saw remarkable progress in the quality of uploaded photos. According to our research, 50% of competitors were professional photographers, which is a significant improvement compared to the previous year, when this number was insignificant. Also, it is important to note that the photographers from other countries - Serbia and Slovenia, as well as photographers from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina - took photographs for the competition.
- Photo-tour
In order to promote the project and the Wikimedia Mission, a total of three photo tours were organized. Areas and monuments that are not represented at Wikimedia's site nor on the Internet, at all, were chosen by plan! Photo tours were realized in Trebinje, Gacko and Novi Grad, territorially dislocated areas, in cooperation with local Tourist Organizations. This year we have partnered with local photo clubs to ensure the participation of professional photographers in photo-tours. The result was more than positive! The clubs responded to the call, and the professionals took part in the photo-tours, and we received quality and visually-admirable photos!
In photo-tours, a total of 23 photographers took part. A total of 405 photographs were collected, of which 167 photographs of the monuments whose photographs were not available to the public. In addition to photo clubs, we are particularly proud of establishing cooperation with the Tourist Organization of the Republic of Srpska and Tourist Organization Trebinje, which in our country are considered as the most successful and most eminent tourist organizations.
- Editing workshop
In addition to the photo-tour, one editing workshop in Gacko was realized as part of the project, in cooperation with the high school center "Pero Slijepcevic" Gacko. On that occasion, students of gymnasiums underwent training for work on Wikipedia, creating content related to the natural and cultural heritage of this area. Additionally, the created articles are illustrated by the accompanying photographs of the given monuments. A total of 28 articles has been written. In the activities participated a total of 12 students, of which 4 were female and 8 were male.
- Photography exhibition
Finally, a ceremony was held within which the winners of the competition were announced and victorious photographs were presented. The winners were presented with awards, and the participants who entered the top 20 were awarded with comfort awards - promotional t-shirts. The exhibition was held in Trebinje in the Gallery of the Cultural Center Trebinje. At the request of the Cultural Center, the exhibition remained in the gallery for two weeks. During that time, more than 2.000 visitors saw an exhibition.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Competitions - Meet Srpska
Meet Srpska is a project primarily aimed at strengthening ties with the Wikipedian community. It is a project that has become recognizable and very important to us because of the many goals that we can achieve through its implementation. This year, in the period from 1 October 2018 to 31 January 2019, the project "Meet Srpska 2018", which included the competition on Serbian Wikipedia in creating content about Republic of Srpska for a month, also encompassed one editing workshop and one photo-tour.
- Competition
The competition part of the project was certainly a point of reference for this project. The competition was held in Wikipedia in the Serbian language, and at that time all the Wikimedia standards were respected for organizing such competitions: work pages were created in Wikipedia, templates for competitors and the jury were created, so that everything was transparent and easy to navigate. In addition, a parallel promotional campaign was conducted on the site and our social networks, as well as through communication with the media. During the competition, a total of 210 articles were created, and participation was taken by 48 contestants.
- Edit-a-thon
One of the accompanying project activities was the Edit-a-thon in the high school Ivo Andrić in Visegrad. On that occasion, gymnasium students who had previously undergone training for working on Wikimedia projects while attending elementary school, competed in writing articles on the Republic of Srpska in Wikipedia in Serbian. In addition, at the request of the school, the training of students who did not have previous experience in working on Wikipedia was also realized in parallel. A total of 27 articles has been created. In the activities participated 15 students, of which 3 male and 12 female.
- Photo-tour
In December, another accompanying project activity was realized - a photo-tour in Visegrad. The event was realized in cooperation with the Višegrad Photo Club and the Višegrad City Gallery. On this occasion, 6 less represented and inaccessible monument sites were photographed on the territory of the municipality of Visegrad. In addition to the members of our community, photo-tours were taken by professional photographers. A total of 385 photos was collected.
- International cooperation
In order to enrich our project, we established cooperation with two user groups - Wikimedia Community User Group Greece and Wikimedia Levant. In connection with the above, the editing workshop was organized by Wikimedia Levant at the University of Hashemite, within which students created contents related to the Republic of Srpska in the Arabian Wikipedia. In return, during the realization of Edu workshops, our community will pay attention to a number of content that will be translated from the Arabic language and placed on Serbian Wikipedia in the next quarter. Number of articles created created in Arabic was 12. During this time the Greek Wikipedia, a competition was organized in writing articles about the Republic of Srpska, and 17 articles in the Greek language were created. Also, is created 40 new wiki data descriptions/labels. In the spirit of equal partnership, in the next quarter, during the implementation of the Edu activity, our organization will pay attention to contents in the Greek language that will be translated into Serbian and posted on Wikipedia in Serbian.
In addition to the aforementioned partners, the project was supported by the “Prosvjeta” Serbian Educational and Cultural Society and by the editors of one of the more popular portals in BiH - Serbs in BiH - through epochs and fates.

Public activities
Public event participation
- Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Photography
The Wikimedia community of the Republic of Srpska took part in the prestigious event - Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Photography held in Trebinje. On that occasion, all photographers from Bosnia and Herzegovina who attended the conference were introduced with the Wikimedia projects and the GLAM program with emphasis on photo projects. Also, a constructive meeting was held regarding a proposal for a joint initiative on changing the Law on Freedom of Panorama, currently still in force in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The conclusions were positive, and in this regard, in the following period, we plan to deal more seriously with the topic. Changing the said law would have a positive impact on the improvement of our GLAM program as well as the increase in the number of photo projects we could organize in this case.
- Participation in international events
The community strives to take part in international events in order to strengthen partnerships with the Wikimedia chapters and in order to acquire new knowledge and skills. During 2018, our organization took part in two international conferences - the Wikimedia Annual Conference in Berlin and the CEE meeting in Lviv. At the CEE Conference, we took a more active part in the lecture part of the conference. Our representative gave a lecture on Building an affiliate from scratch: Experiences of Wikimedia Community of the Republic of Srpska.
Media and reporting
During the designated period, during the project implementation, the community regularly notified the public about their activities through communication with the media through the site, the blog, mailing lists and social networks (Facebook, Twiter, *Instagram, YouTube).
Within the specified time frame, community activities were promoted through 69 media posts (electronic and print media, radio and TV shows). Each activity has sparked public and media attention, which is a sign that the Community has succeeded in building a proper reputation in the country in three years of operation and secured its place on the media scene.

During the indicated period our community has confronted numerous challenges. Besides the implementation of QR codes in "Old Herzegovina Museum" trough Wiki ambassador and other projects, we would like to underline this year's project Wiki Women in Republic of Srpska which justified our expectations. We have held two editing workshop in two cities in the Republic of Srpska and connected woman editor in a group that takes a part in edit-a-throne. Realization of this project means a lot for us because of the support of old and new partners and the response of females. We would like to highlight support from Rogatica municipality and public library Trebinje. 30 women take part in this project. During training and during the marathon was written 119 new articles. Beside named activities, the photo tour has been realized in cooperation with the association that fosters tradition and makes traditional clothes. Photo-club that we cooperated with, has taken photos of models dressed in traditional clothes, and the photos have been set on Wikimedia Commons. Value of these photographs is that they are rare on Wikimedia Commons and on the internet generally.

GLAM
Wiki Ambassador
During the specified period, the Community has significantly expanded and improved the GLAM program in the Republic of Srpska through the Wiki ambassador project in the Republic of Srpska. Cooperation with the Republic Center for Research of War, War Crimes and Searching for Missing Persons has been established. Cooperation was established the Museum of Old Herzegovina as well. In addition to good cooperation with local partners, the community was supported by individuals and representatives of wiki organizations during the implementation of projects within our GLAM program. The project was implemented in 2 cities - the regional centers of the Republic of Srpska - Banja Luka and Foča.
- Wiki Ambassador in Banja Luka
In cooperation with the Republic Center for Research of War, War Crimes and Search for Missing Persons, 5 editing workshops were held during which employees have undergone training for work on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. On that occasion, high-quality articles were posted on Wikipedia. The significance of this collaboration and project itself is very high for both us and users of Serbian Wikipedia due to the release of otherwise inaccessible content.
The project was attended by 10 editors - three female and 7 male. 51 articles were created. More than 200 images were added to the Wikimedia Commons.
- Wiki Ambassador at the Museum of Old Herzegovina in Foča
Along with the realization of activities in Banja Luka, the second Wiki Ambassador accomplished the goals set by the project during activities in the Museum of Old Herzegovina. Two editing workshops and three working visits to the Museum were organized.
During editing workshops, through the creation of articles about Foča and Old Herzegovina, the staff of the Museum and interested representatives of various institutions in Foca, have undergone training for work on Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and QRpedia. Participants were at the same time acquainted with the Wikimedia Movement and the goals it seeks to achieve. After the workshops, our Wiki Ambassador visited the Museum of Old Herzegovina three times and in cooperation with the employees worked on creating articles that were not present on Wikipedia. Work on supplementing and expanding certain articles with relevant material and literature provided by the Serbian Central Library "Prosvjeta" Foča, as well as the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Foča was also done.
Special time was dedicated to the introduction of new technologies into the Museum. For the creation of QR codes, necessary preparations were made: 4 permanent exhibitions from the Museum and the Foča City Theater were photographed. Photos were placed on Wikimedia Commons. After that, they were used to illustrate and supplement articles on Wikipedia. In particular, it is necessary to emphasize that during the creation of articles for the needs of QR-codes we had the support of Wikipedia editors in other languages and representatives of certain Wikimedia organizations. Thus our articles have been translated into several languages - Bahasa Melayu, English, Հայերեն, Macedonian, Russian and Ukrainian. After connecting articles via interlingual connections, the articles are linked with the QR codes that were printed and placed in the Museum of Old Herzegovina, on the permanent exhibitions. Also, the Museum has set up our logo as well as the logo of Wikipedia next to the exhibits, with the indication that the presence of QR codes is the result of cooperation with our community, which for us, besides everything else, is a great promotion. The codes were officially presented during the international cultural event Night of the Museums.
There were 10 participants in the activities - 5 men and 5 women. A total of 31 new articles were created, 14 articles completed, 150 photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and 14 QR codes were made.

Community activities
Local Conference
In order to gather the Wikimedians of the Republic of Srpska, in April 2019 the annual conference of the Wikimedia community of the Republic of Srpska was held for two days. The event was held at Jahorina. The organizational team worked on the preparation of the event for two months, focusing, in particular, on creating a quality program that would provide information to the heterogeneous group of participants and activities that are in accordance with their interests. We believe we have succeeded in doing so.
Besides the active members of the Wikimedia community of the Republic of Srpska, the participants of the conference were representatives of the GLAM and Edu institutions.
The event organization covered three phases: the preparatory, the implementation phase, and the evaluation phase.
- Preparation phase
After the formation of the organizational team, in accordance with the members' interest, a preparatory phase was initiated and included the following activities:
- selecting the appropriate location
- selecting adequate space
- preparing and sending letters
- regulating accommodation
- regulating meals
- preparation of promotional material
- creating a web page
- preparation of application form
- preparing press releases
- communication with the media
- communication with participants
- selection of thematic areas for the program
- Preparing a call for lecturers
- communication with lecturers
- production of brochures, accreditations and promotional materials
- preparing symbolic gifts
- meetings of the organizational team
- work with volunteers.
Work on the preparation of such an event is always a challenge, regardless of previous experience. This year was no different. Apart from the organization of event elements that are mentioned, the organizational team showed a high degree of creativity and commitment to work, so the listed activities were carried out without problems and within the agreed time.
At this stage, among other things, we were especially concerned with the development of the program. Along with the public advertisement of the call for participation, the team also prepared a call for lecturers. Prior to the public announcement, we defined the thematic areas and several levels of knowledge, in accordance with the target group of participants, and then invoked a public call through the media, the site, and social networks. In addition, the call is, as a matter of fact, addressed to Wikipedia editors in the languages of neighboring countries - via a call on Wikipedia village pumps. The response was satisfactory. After that, the program and certain lecturers were created.
- Realization phase
The implementation phase, in addition to good preparation, required good cooperation between the organizational team and the volunteers. Jobs were divided and everyone knew his task. After the arrival of the participants, we started with the realization of program activities. On the first day, students had the opportunity, in addition to the theoretical part of the lecture, to participate in the Wikipedia editing workshops and workshops focused on the design of a project that would aim to collect and disseminate free knowledge. It is especially important to point out that one lecture was dedicated to the technical side of Wikipedia - wiki codes. The lecture was delivered by the representatives of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering from East Sarajevo, who gave support to the event. Considering the burden on the participants, after the lectures, entertaining activities for participants were prepared - Wiki quiz of knowledge and photo-tour on Jahorina.
- Evaluation phase
The evaluation phase involved summarizing the results of events by the organizational team. During the meeting, conclusions about the realized goals of the conference were made. In addition to the goals foreseen by the project, additional goals have been achieved that represent a special kind of satisfaction for our team. Upon the conclusion of the conference, the cooperation with the most important library in the Republic of Srpska - the National and University Library of the Republic of Srpska, whose representatives were participants of the event, was agreed.

Gender gap - Wiki Women
In 2019, our community continued its Gender Gap program, which was widely accepted in the previous period. During the specified period we worked on the expansion and improvement of the program through the project Wiki Women in the Republic of Srpska, which has justified our expectations this time as well.
Wiki Women in the Republic of Srpska 2019
Wiki Women in the Republic of Srpska 2019 is a project of the Wikimedia community of the Republic of Srpska aimed at overcoming gender differences in Wikimedia projects. The project encompasses a series of activities related to the work on Wikimedia projects with women in the territory of the two towns of the Republic of Srpska - Trebinje and Rogatica. In addition, project activities were focused on the treatment of less represented topics, primarily women topics and then others. Within the project, four workshops, one edit-a-thon and one photo tour were realized. The activities were carried out in two towns of the Republic of Srpska - Trebinje and Rogatica.
- Wiki Women in Trebinje
Two editing workshops and one edit-a-thon were held in Trebinje in cooperation with the National Library of Trebinje. Participants of these activities were women who underwent training for work on Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Commons and then participated in the writing of articles during the realization of the edit-a-thon. The number of participants from Trebinje was 6. A total of 34 articles has been written during these activities.
- Wiki Women in Rogatica
Parallel to activities in Trebinje, the same activities were held in Rogatica - two editing workshops, one edit-a-thon and one photo tour. The activities were realized at the High School "27th January" in Rogatica. Participation in the activities was 24 women. During the workshops and edit-a-thon, participants created 85 new and expanded 6 of already existing articles.
Upon completion of the competition, the jury evaluated the articles, and the winners of the marathon were announced. The three most diligent ladies were awarded with symbolic prizes.
- Photo-tour
In addition to editing workshops and edit-a-thon, a photo-tour was held in Rogatica. The activity was realized in cooperation with the Women's Association “Snop”, Gučevo and the Višegrad Photo Club. Members of the Women's Association “Snop”, who are engaged in fostering folk tradition and creation of authentic clothes, have prepared traditional folk costumes of this area that were presented by their models. Professional photographers from Visegrad photographed the models and placed the created photos on Wikimedia Commons. The photographs were used to illustrate the corresponding articles in Wikipedia.
- Project was supported by the following 10 partners:
- National Library of Trebinje
- National Library “Dr. Ljubo Mihić” Trebinje
- High School Center “27th January” Rogatica
- Municipality of Rogatica
- Women’s Association “Snop”

Public activities
Night of the Museums
The annual work plan of our community outlined participation in two public events. In addition to participating in the cultural event “Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Photography”, our community took part in one of the most prestigious events in the world of culture in the Republic of Srpska - in the Night of the Museums. Within the above-mentioned event, in cooperation with the Museum of Old Herzegovina, an exhibition of photographs from Trace of Soul project held 2017 and 2018 was prepared. On that occasion, the Museum presented the results of cooperation with our organization to the visitors, together with the QR codes that were placed on museum exhibits. These QR codes were created during the project Wiki ambassador in RS. The event caused great attention of the public and the media that followed the event.
Media and reporting
During the designated period, during the project implementation, the community regularly notified the public about their activities through communication with the media through the site, the blog, mailing lists and social networks (Facebook, Twiter, *Instagram, YouTube).
Within the specified time frame, community activities were promoted through 120 media posts (electronic and print media, radio and TV shows). Each activity has sparked public and media attention, which is a sign that the Community has succeeded in building a proper reputation in the country in three years of operation and secured its place in the media scene.
