Outcome
edit- Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
- Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.
- As of at the moment it is still pending. The main venues for sharing are the page I linked at the bottom, where I am going to provide more or less extended feedback about the sessions and other stuff I attended, and it will be Ukrainian Wikiconference where I will have chance to speak with half a hundred or more Ukrainian users, most of whom did not have chance to attend Wikimania this year, besides it would be possible to make a maximum number of comments to actually people interested in particular thing on specific sessions. What I have done already is brought some brochures from other affiliates booths in Community Village to Wikimedia Ukraine office. Well that is nothing much, and I didn't make a full collection of stuff represented there, but, well, I do find this a useful thing and it is something about sharing experiences.
- Option 3: New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?
- Add a link to something new that was created as a result of your participation in this event (for example, you might link to a new tool that you and your co-participants worked on at the Hackathon, or to pages created in a workshop you participated in).
- A hackathon session about SPARQL made me understand the principle behind the queries. I had experience trying to make queries with the service before Wikimania, but this session explained to me that I was doing it exactly as I should not — I was trying to apply my modest SQL knowledge to SPARQL, while the languages though share common syntax more or less, have rather different approach to making queries. I cannot brag having created some great queries yet, but with the basic understanding obtained I have started reading the specification on the language and have already learned a little bit more of the language than I used to know right after Wikimania. I was harvesting last Wikimania's fruits bit by bit throughout the year, I expect it much happening like this this time too. But I will try to make sure to make some updates here about it.
- The Lua related session also was inspiring. Although I had more successful experience with Lua before (see my contribs in ukwiki, ukwikin and ukwikiq in the Module ns), thus having that minimum knowledge being presented, having it communicated in class-like medium rather than having it hastily read when implementing some thing was helpful to have knowledge become more formal. I am currently busy trying to improve my programming skills in general, and am focused on other programming languages, so did not yet practice much with Lua after 'mania (though had to do a tweak or two in a module I wrote before it) but that is an unavoidable thing.
- I also believe that Wittylama has found more people willing to have statistics like I was doing for CEE Spring and Europeana 280, so that if not a creation then expectation of a creation :)
Connections
editWell, perhaps it does not fit much into the formal options, but it is a creation too. Links with people. New bonds and doubling existing bonds. < List will be expanded shortly >
- user:DerHexer,
- user:Vogone,
- user:-revi - finally we meet. and I do not think there would be a chance to meet a pal from Southern Korea for me other than Wikimania

Anything else
edit- User:Base/Wikimania/Reports/2016 — I am promising to fill it by fall, it would make more sense "publishing" it then too, as just as me, many Wikimedians are not that focused on wiki things during the summer.
- My FB timeline — I was posting some Wikimania-related stuff during the conference itself. I will add more concrete links to the posts later, so that you do not need to scroll it :)
- Well and not formalisible thing and not what actually passes for the report, but, well, I am a Wikimedian for 5 years. While some Wikimedians are here for 15 years already, some actually leave after a couple of years. Wikimania is a great inspiration to strive to join the former rather than the latter group. As sometimes onwiki and offline Wikimedia things are quite stressful having this piece of fun is just great. As I am for major part active on global Wikimedia scope, local conferences are not serving this dose of joy I get when I meet people I enjoy collaborating with, who sometimes live on another part of the globe. As I am scholarships dependent in this it is never a guarantee that I go to Wikimania, but it is always a possibility, and that's great that it exists, and I am very thankful that I was granted to use it twice now. That may pass as a indication on what I think about the idea of making Wikimanias biennial.
Months afterwards
edit- I used knowledge gained on respective sessions of Wikimania Hackathon to hold sessions about Lua and SPARQL on Ukrainian Hackathon (programme spreadsheet). It wouldn't be possible otherwise.
