Event name
editSoftware Freedom Day
Participant connections
editThe general attendance fell short of my expectations. However there were about 30-40 people at the event. @Rberchie: and i presented alongside during the keynote sessions. The audience were highly responsive as they engaged with so many questions. It was amazing how people were interested and wanted to know more about Wikipedia and its sister projects.
We adviced they joined our breakout session were we had a handful to discuss how they could join the community in Ghana and had a hands on session. One adverse but interesting thing we noticed was that people wanted to understand how Wikipedia works not to necessarily edit but to efficiently use the platform for their research work and other duties that require its use.
Outcome
edit- Learning Pattern: What is one useful learning pattern you can share with the Wikimedia movement?
- I added a new point to this learning pattern as we realized individuals who were engaged in their interests showed more willingness to volunteer. As a result of the event we had four (4) new recruits and one (1) teacher who will hopeful lead us to a partnership with his school for an Education Project in the near.
Finances
editI didn't seek funding for this grant but rather souvenirs. Kindly visit the Wikimedia Ghana Souvenirs Logbook to find how items were shared.

Anything else
editI think more of such interactions with the tech community and the general public will send the word out about the community and appeal to the interest of people.
I had other Wikimedians like @Enock4seth: @Rberchie: to grace the occasion, their help was enormous to the success of the event.
