Participant connections

edit

Some twenty people attended my presentation on June 24th, many of whom were also community managers and other people who were involved in building online communities. Many of them were also wondering about what would be the best way to build their communities, especially when it comes to one-off projects where community dynamics are different, and we had a very fruitful discussion as a result during the presentation.

Outcome

edit
Option 2: Learning Pattern: What is one useful learning pattern you can share with the Wikimedia movement?
Add a link to a learning pattern - either a new pattern you created with insights from your participation, or an existing pattern to which you added your endorsement and some significant new "considerations" or “examples” from your experience.

A learning pattern on what we did regarding community check-ups and communication is available here. During Wikimania 2015, a couple of affiliates expressed interest in replicating the CHMP in their countries, so I hope that this learning pattern will help them greatly in their efforts to execute the project.

Finances

edit
  • Plane ticket: $1611.00

Amount left over

edit

No money was left over. As you can see, I was $11 over budget—I secured approval from the Wikimedia Foundation in this instance to go slightly over budget, and I can repay this amount at the Foundation's convenience.
