Outcome
edit- Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
- Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.
I plan to share some of my experience during upcoming Ukrainian Wikiconference, local events and Wikimeetups and Wikimedia Ukraine page (together with other participants from Ukraine).
- Option 3: New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?
- Add a link to something new that was created as a result of your participation in this event (for example, you might link to a new tool that you and your co-participants worked on at the Hackathon, or to pages created in a workshop you participated in).
After the event I have translated into my language articles related to the topics of Wikimania, such as Ubuntu and Loujain al-Hathloul.
Also I am in the process of uploading pictures from Wikimania and personal trips which connected with the event.
Connections
editIt was nice to meet some people from previous Wikimania and thank them for their help about projects which was done after Montreal. As for this Wikimania I was happy to meet nice new people from all over the world, among them are Eid John, Rupika Sharma, Notanotheramy, Shangkuanlc and many others. Hope to organize some projects with them soon. Moreover, with help of my coleague from Ukrainian wikipedia the Tanzanian week in Ukrainian wiki will start soon (threre are several articles already written before the start). We plan that Tanzanian will join the organization process.
Traditionally, meeting with people from CEE region are very productive.
Anything else
editIt was a good job during organization of my trip. The WMF team has done everything in a very good way.
I was happy that many questions during Wikimania were addresed to minority languages and to poorly represented comunities. I am planning to work more for improving content about Africa and other far regions in Ukrainian and, maybe, in other languages. For, example I have started with Tanzania as I have mentioned above.
I am happy that Frhdkazan has become a Wikimedian of the Year, he really did many things to improve regional languages of Russia. But, unfortunatelly, I didn't have a chance to meet editors of this languages during Wikimania 2018. The same is with representatives from Belarus. This people need to participate in such events, and in my opinion, it will motivate them to improve communities. Some other of my wishes from previous year were satisfied, and I am happy for this.
And many thanks to organizers for amazing event!
