Moving to a Project and Event Grant
editHi Rberchie, Enock4seth and Flixtey
Thanks for this thoughtful submission, and congratulations on forming a user group in Ghana! Based on an initial read of your proposal, we believe this project would be a better fit for our Project and Event Grants program, which commonly funds local user groups to conduct outreach campaigns in their home country, similar to what you are planning here. Assuming you'd like to proceed, my colleague Alex Wang can help you to move your proposal page into a Project and Events Grant. I expect she and my colleague Adele Vrana who works on Wikipedia Zero in Africa (and who I believe you've met before!) will be well-placed to advise and suggest next steps for your planning. I'm updating the status of this IEG proposal to "draft," meanwhile, to allow space for your discussion with Alex to move forward outside of the IEG review timeline. Please let us know if you have any questions! Best wishes, Siko (WMF) (talk) 00:13, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Siko (WMF) for reaching out to us on this. We wish to proceed with your advice on moving the project from IEG to PEG, so AWang (WMF) and AVrana (WMF) we humbly wait on your assistance to move on with this, Thanks. Flixtey (talk) 18:18, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Rberchie, Enock4seth and Flixtey. It's great to see a plan for more regular engagement with editors in Ghana! We are happy to discuss your project proposal under the Project and Event Grants (PEG) program. It would be great if you could copy the information from your IEG proposal into the relevant sections on the PEG form: Submit a PEG Request. While many of the questions are the same and you can just copy/paste, there are a few additional questions. It looks like a number of your events might have already taken place. Did you complete the planned events on September 22nd and October 4th? If yes, what was the response like from Wikimedia contributors? Can you please clarify if you hope to create sub-committees from a larger group of already established volunteers or to recruit new volunteers. I would be happy to arrange a time to discuss the project in more detail. Please email me at awang"at"wikimedia.org. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 00:37, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
