Grants talk:IEG/SOLRSearch
Existing Lucene-related efforts
editI have notified CT Woo because his team has had a open position of Lucene Search Operations Engineer, which seems relevant to this proposal. The RFP might not be up-to-date, but in that case, I believe they can inform us. On a related note, mw:Extension:Lucene-search would be worth reading, if you haven't. It is the current full-text search facility in production in Wikimedia sites as far as I know. It might make sense to put into the proposal some more detailed comparison and/or ideas on migration. --whym (talk) 14:33, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Request for comment
editI would like to see some comments from the Wikimedia dev and tech communities about this proposal. I'm pinging Erik to ask him to have someone with the relevant knowledge comment on this. --Pine✉ 20:29, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Ineligible for IEGrant
editHi John, Thanks for submitting this proposal. In ongoing conversations with WMF Engineering and Product, it has become clear that any grant which requires coordination with WMF staff outside of the WMF grantmaking team are just not going to be feasible this year, and so we will be focusing on grant projects that don't have engineering work as a primary focus. Because extensions require code review from WMF to deploy, I am marking this project as ineligible for an IEGrant at present. Please feel free to review our complete eligibility criteria and let us know if you have any updates to your project idea in future rounds that would change its eligibility. Meanwhile, thanks again for your time and participation, and please accept my apologies that these criteria were not entirely clear from day 1...we're all learning as we go in this first pilot round. Cheers! Siko (WMF) (talk) 18:08, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
