Combine with Samskruta Bharati activities

edit
  • Samskruta Bharati has a training facility for learning Sanskrit. And I have attended one such in Ahmedabad. It would be better if target is those who come to Samskruta Bharati than spending this much on an individual travelling around, with no tangible impact. Also, Grants:IEG/Samskrit_Shastra_Project has claimed to have gone to universities, perhaps its better to club both. --Anonymous

Comments from the committee:
  • The project is aligned with WMF goals, but I am unsure how it would be adapted for other local or international communities.
  • Sanskrit has value in some ways similar to Latin and is worth investing effort in.
  • Would increase participation and quality, but may not be sustainable.
  • Fits the strategic priority to increase participation (among older people) and to increase quality (by encouraging participation from experts). The target audience is specifically Sanskrit scholars.
  • This is the second proposal in the last year related to increasing Sanskrit contact. This might be indicative of the need or importance of supporting this particular area.
  • There is potential for online impact, particularly through outreach to universities, but I have significant concerns about the feasibility of the project. There are also no plans for sustaining the project after 6 months.
  • I see some risks about the local contact with institutions.
  • The metrics are well defined and all can be measured with numbers (thanks!)
  • I think the approach of recruiting senior citizens, piloted through the Czech proposal, is very innovative. We should try this in more cultures.
  • This has been tried before, so not entirely innovative, but there is a detailed plan of activities and clear measures for success, so I think impact outweighs any risks
  • Working with Sanskrit scholars is an innovative approach. However, there is not enough consideration of how challenging it will be to shift entrenched practices such as traditional academic publishing towards Wikipedia editing. Without a sense for how many scholars will be willing to release their work under a free license, investing a lot of money in this project involves substantial risk.
  • Would this project result in violations of the "no original research" policy? It’s important that adherence to Wikipedia standards is considered in the project design.
  • Measures of success do not seem to be relevant to this project (for example, why number of attendees and feedback on events? Are there events planned?).
  • The project timeline needs clarification. Is the major effort in Phase 1 or 2? Contact with external institutions takes some time, but I don't feel comfortable without seeing estimated impact based on the budget's entire allocation for both phases. I see some risks
  • Applicant seems to have the proper Wikipedia experience, but it’s not clear whether the applicant has prior experience working with senior citizens. I think it's worth a shot though.
  • Very detailed and plausible budget. Seems feasible all in all.
  • As with the measures, the budget does not reflect the activities outlined in the proposal. It's difficult to judge how much relevant experience the project lead has.
  • Has several endorsements and a project volunteer
  • Has clear target and obvious support.
  • The applicant’s response to an anonymous editor on the talk page (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:117.195.225.198) does not seem in ine with"friendly space” policies.
  • Would like more detail about time, key persons/resources, and some "plan B" in some cases.
  • I would like to see this applicant talk with the Czech senior citizen grant applicant and some people from Latin Wikipedia to share ideas about how we can recruit more senior citizens for their scholarly knowledge for other language projects

Hello Everyone !

• I don’t know how this project would be adapted by International community but sa.wikipedia community will be boot.

• This project is feasible. Because it is like outreach program but here difficulty is we have to reach persons who have particular age group. If difficulty don’t there than why we do this project? In sa.wikipedia we have less activity and we tried Schools and colleges and friend circles without any help or little help. But this is some difficulty and we decide to face it. After this 6 month project sa.wikipedia also will more active. Now we want only this.

• If I studied from Somnath Sanskrit University and for this project I go there and bring some good person so what is risky in institute contact? I don’t know. Other volunteer will go related universities too.

• In Gurukulas Gurujis are giving free knowledge to their students. But they don’t aware about this project. So our work will to be touch and teach them only. Their knowledge is already in open source like the Ganga. Therefore free license etc are not issues.

https://sa.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%A4%B8%E0%A4%A6%E0%A4%B8%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%AF%E0%A4%83:NehalDaveND these articles written by me. Audio, some images are created by me. So "no original research" is not an issue. I know how can be handle it. You can see standards of those articles project result will be ditto that.

• Our all community members will be part of this project. Who wrote here or not. They actively or passively will be engaged in this project.

• Is the major effort in Phase 1 or 2? So it is very easy and very difficult too. Because there are so many ifs and else. If we will get enough numbers of seniors in a university than it will be easy and other may it difficult. Therefore we have chosen selected unis. So major efforts in phase 1 because we have to find or meet ups seniors. After success of phase 1 it will easy phase 2.

• If someone guide me which are the parameters of work experience with senior citizens. So I can try to explain. NehalDaveND (talk) 19:06, 21 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
