Grants talk:IEG/TOK - The tree of knowledge
Thanks Siko (WMF) for your tips! Everyone opinion is very important and precious at this stage. I agree with you that the realization of a new website might be required. Anyway, my thought was that having a dynamic platform like a social network linked directly to wikipedia, could be a good additional feature for whole wikipedia project.
First feedback
editHi, thanks for submitting this idea. I'm not sure yet, as you haven't finished adding details to the project plan section of your page, but I'm guessing that you're looking to build a whole new website, rather than doing something that directly improves/connects with Wikipedia or other existing Wikimedia websites. If that's the case, your project would likely be ineligible for an Individual Engagement Grant. Would be great to see more info as you develop this idea so we can determine that. On the other hand, you might also want to check out the new Grants:IdeaLab we've built. I, too, am interested in ways to help people brainstorm and grow ideas with each other's support...and that's what we've tried to do with ideas for grant proposals in this new IdeaLab space. Just thought you might be interested, although it's a much more specific use-case and on a smaller scale than the kind of social network site I imagine you're thinking of. Cheers! Ineligible for IEGrant
editThank you for submitting this proposal. Unfortunately, it does not appear to meet the eligibility criteria for an Individual Engagement Grant project. It appears that either you would be creating an entirely new network and website to accomplish your goals, or else you would require WMF engineering support to integrate your idea with Wikipedia as it stands now. Either way, this will place the project outside of the scope of this grants program. I've marked the status as ineligible in its current state. Please feel free to keep working on this idea and resubmit it in a future round if something changes with the overall project later on. And thanks again for participating.
