I endorse because I know the team and they are actively trying to develop a community in Zim but also getting integrated into the wider ecosystem. I stay a bit perplex though by the « photography hire » line in the budget... (?)
Rapid Fund Request Approved
editThank you for applying to the rapid fund program. We have approved funding in the amount of USD 1910. Please see the comments below linked to the funding decision;
- While we understand that you may need to hire equipment for photography, we will be keen to understand the value the ‘ photographer hire role’ played in the outcomes of the project and what this means towards the sustainability of future similar projects. The goal has always been that volunteers are the key contributors, and where external expertise is needed, there is clear value and measures for sustaining the skills expertise.
- In the future, and especially related to campaigns, we would like to learn more about how the campaign supports you in solving challenges related to your community - we hope to learn more from your response to questions 6-7. In the report we look forward to seeing a detailed narrative report on the engagement you had with the partners listed and the outcomes from each. We also will be keen to learn about the number of volunteers who participated and their contribution to the activity.
- You need to clearly define what editors in the event are able to do, what actions the editors can take after the event - how about after 6 months, and what support the group is providing to make this possible. Putting SMART objectives together with clear metrics will support you in assessing whether the project is working or not, and this is beyond quantitative metrics. We hope to see these learnings in the report you share. Please note there are other ways of tracking editor growth and retention; here is a tutorial on how to use PAWS to query retention with this template and a tutorial in English - We would like you to deepen your approach to tracking retention beyond just the number of attendees and look forward to seeing the progress made on this in the report.
- Lastly, as a growing Wikimedian community, it is important that you develop a Meta page that houses all your projects and shows the members of your community. We found 1-2 separate pages which were not recently updated. You can reach out to other communities to learn more and gain any needed support.

- Thank you for the highlights they surely help in growing in the movement. Will look into these as we continue to plan for the events with the help of other Wikimedians. Thank you.... Sichelesile (talk) 17:30, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
