Hello DaSupremo, thank you for submitting this Rapid Fund application. We are pleased to learn that you are organising the second edition of the Ghanaian Languages Meetup. We have reviewed the proposal and have a few questions and requests.

• Could you please provide more information on how this edition will be different from the previous event? What are some of the lessons learned from the previous event that you will be incorporating this time? What are some of the topics you will be discussing that are in line with the outcomes of the previous event?
• What did the previous event help to achieve and what specifically do you hope to achieve this time?
• How will you make sure that you have diverse participation? Please make sure that there are new participants from each language community.
• The amount shown in the detailed budget (4,803.76 USD) does not match the amount shown in your grant application (4,966.04 USD). Please correct this.

• The first edition of the Ghanaian languages meetup was focused on bringing all the language communities in Ghana together, identifying some of the barriers faced by each community, and sharing our learning experiences, success stories, and how to collectively address some of the unique challenges we face as language communities. The second edition will be uniquely different from last year because we had created a new program, tailored it and learnt at every stage of the mini meetup. In the previous edition, each of the 9 participating communities presented their achievements and challenges as published in this diff post. This year, we focus on discussions around the following topics:
  • Partnership
  • Volunteer recruitment and retention strategies
  • Grant management and reporting
  • AI and machine translation for smaller language Wikipedia projects
• As a result of the event, participants from different language communities had the opportunity to share what they had been working on and sort for collaboration. Some of the newly approved language projects shared their learning experiences from the incubator and the process of getting a language Wikipedia approved. As a result, the Dagaare and the Kusaal Wikipedia got approved this year and the Moore incubator is currently pending approval.
• Just like last year, we hope to open applications for interested participants to apply and their applications will be reviewed based on the set criteria by the selection committee. We will ensure that each community in Ghana is represented. Like last year, the program and the scholarship committees will be represented by members of each community and the core organizing team. Call for applications will be sent to their community email addresses and talk pages on Meta.
• The amount has been changed to 4,733.81USD
