Digitization and archiving of Nigeria’s heritage works will help put Nigeria on the map in positive ways and help promote open source knowledge on Nigeria’s heritage works and how these works have contributed to the growth of culture and heritage over time.
The time line for the project was properly outlined and detailed in the grant application.

editPeople need the autonomy and independence to manage their own country's endangered archives as well as the financial support to do so. Most archives that get funding are either already popular creators or those that capture the attention of rich funders. This project which seeks to grow community involvement, create more diversity and representation as well as train new editors is going to produce a lot of value to Wikimedia as it dovetails nicely with your current strategies. I also feel that the proposal is coherent in terms of its objectives, strategies, budget and expected results which is why I endorse it. --carocaropilates (talk) 17:55, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
I worked closely with Lutarchitecture on his previous Wikimedia project. He has a strong understanding of how to work with the Nigeria archives and their custodians and has developed a good knowledge of strategies and process for batch uploading large groups of digitized archival material (using pattypan) to Wikimedia Commons. The combination of these skillsets makes him an excellent person to be taking on this important work of curating and digitizing to increase access to endangered archives as well as expanding the community of Wikimedia users in Nigeria engaged in his work. I strongly support this important project to continue this work. -- Ccaec1920 (talk) 17:55, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Rapid Fund Request : Not Funded
editHello , thanks for submitting your Rapid Fund request. We appreciate your willingness to contribute to the Wikimedia Movement.
We have completed the initial review of your application and we decided to not fund it. We made this decision considering several factors:
- Completeness of the grant application, including amount of AI generated content.
- Clear goals, objectives, and impact aligned with the requested budget, activities and metrics.
- On-wiki experience of the main applicant and the team.
- Completeness of the proposed budget, including alignment of the proposed expenses with local costs.
On behalf of the Sub-Saharan Africa regional review team. VThamaini (WMF) (talk) 14:43, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for carefully reviewing the application, I am grateful that you took your time to look at it in-depth.
- 1. My content is not AI generated no part of it was AI generated and I made effort to keep it as succinct and brisk as possible for easy comprehension, surprised it is being flagged for AI generated content, I just thought I should let review team know that. About completeness didn't know I missed a section or part of the proposal, hopefully next time I would make effort to put in a more complete application.
- 2. My on-wiki experience is practically on wikimedia Commons where I use Pattypan for batch uploads, the team members are professionals and I didn't realize they needed to have an extensive on-wiki experience to be part of the team, to get archives and curate archives and digitize archives are skill sets not currently present within the confines of the Community I belong to, and this proposal was to serve as an intermediary that extends some of those knowledge to community members, the idea was to teach community members how to get this down and contribute to Wikimedia Commons. If there was a criteria spelling out the on wiki experience, I would have waited till I have the required experience required by the review committee before applying for the rapid grant. The alignment of expenses with local cost, I cannot categorically comment on that considering the ever increasing cost of things and fluctuations of prices.
- Finally I want to really thank the review committee for their time and effort, it was an interesting process and I am grateful that I applied, I'll just make effort to hold on to the archives and keep communication with custodians open till when I have enough experience to apply and then continue with digitization and Archiving on Wikimedia Commons.
- Once more my contents are not and are never AI generated thank you, asides being a Wikimedia contributor, I am a published writer and an architect and also have my writing contents reviewed by a professor of Architecture who is also member of my team, just to have the right information out there.
- Thank you review committee, thank you to everyone who endorsed the proposal, It was a delight. 102.89.83.193 12:59, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
