Grants talk:Project/Connecting Tech Talents with Impact Makers
English Wikisource?
editIn the infobox you have listed English Wikisource as target, but nowhere in the application are you talking about how it is involved. Is that community aware of your efforts? Are you a part of it? Ainali (talk) 19:51, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
What even is this?
editAre you seriously proposing a $100,000 wikimedia grant to start a competitor to UpWork? Is there even a pretense here of it having anything to do with Wikimedia Bawolff (talk) 07:51, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- I also fail to see any connection whatsoever to Wikimedia. I would suggest the proposers to engage in MediaWiki development for one year before proposing any project about technical talents. We are happy to have you as mw:GCI mentors for the next round; I see one of you is still a student, so you may want to apply for mw:GSOC to start understanding how Wikimedia software development works. Clarify relation to Wikimedia
edit@SophieOvio: Hi and thanks for this proposal. Apart from "tracking the number of total Wikipedia participants in our users" on ovio.org, could you elaborate how this proposal is related to Wikimedia, and what Wikimedia communities gain from this proposal? Thanks a lot in advance! --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 22:56, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Comments from I JethroBT (WMF)
editHello SophieOvio, and thank you for this proposal. My name is Chris Schilling, a program officer supporting the Project Grant program. We appreciate that Ovio's interest in promoting open-source collaboration toward social causes, and it is helpful to see the progress you have made so far in inviting in organizations, projects, and users to your platform. However, the current proposal is not within the scope of Wikimedia Foundation grant programs, as it is not clearly connected with specific Wikimedia communities, projects, or needs. I have therefore marked the proposal as ineligible for review. Thank you for offering this proposal for consideration, and we wish you great success in supporting important social causes through your platform. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 10:42, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
