editDear Giantflightlessbirds,
Thank you for submitting this report! I am accepting it now, with the following comments:
- This is a wonderful report--it was truly a pleasure to read it. It's so well organized, with lovely illustrations and photos, and it vividly conveys how much you've accomplished in your project so far. Your work is inspiring, often innovative in its approach, and it seems to be making an impact that will last far beyond the duration of this project.
- I love the language of "Wikidrinks, Wikibrunches, and Wikiblitzes". (Seems you have a knack for naming... Someone actually congratulated me a while back for getting to be the Program Officer who got to approve the first 'Wikipedian at Large," which they referred to as the best title in the movement).
- Can you say more about the training you have developed for Pattypan? Is it possible for you to share what you have developed? I imagine that many people could benefit from them.
- Great learning pattern on Wikiblitzes!
- "Although the amount requested has been sufficient, if I were applying again I would have asked for more for living expenses; I've been lucky with supportive friends, and a book advance and literary prize have helped defray costs." If you find that this changes, and the amount proves not sufficient, please email me right away and we can discuss options. I would be sad to think this project were defraying your personal finances. Likewise, if there are other conferences that seem particularly likely to yield results for this project, let me know if you would like to request additional funds for registration.
- Thanks for writing out the six lessons. I'm particularly interested in how you executed a strategy for bulk uploads. Was there good documentation you found in the GLAM world for a strategy, or did you find you had to invent your own path? Are there any press releases you could share that could serve as examples for others? If you didn't find good documentation, could your strategy for bulk uploads become a learning pattern for your Final Report?
- Wow, such a moving close to this report. How wonderful to have that experience working with the Māori-language radio station! It sounds like the sound files are really a treasure, and I am looking forward to having an opportunity to hear them, once they are uploaded. Given the focus on knowledge equity in the movement right now, there are many discussions happening about how to bring indigeneous knowledge into the Wikimedia movement in a responsible way that is sensitive to and conscientious about the impacts of historical and current colonization. Determining what would and wouldn't be appropriate to release into Commons, given differing philosophies of knowledge, is a process I think the Wikimedia movement as a whole is grappling with. I would love to have a conversation some time to hear more about what you learned from this process.
Congratulations on all you have accomplished so far. I'm very much looking forward to your Final Report!
Warm regards,
