Feedback for improvement
editDear @LPiantá (WMB) Commendations to the team for the detailed and comprehensive work on this project through the various stages. It is interesting to see a more diverse implementation approach as this effectively demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusivity within the Wikimedia Movement by expanding its scope to include underrepresented communities, particularly from Portuguese-speaking African countries. The emphasis on adapting to participant needs to ensure knowledge exchange and collaboration could foster a truly supportive community environment, enhancing relevance, accessibility, and collective capacity.
A few recommendations for strengthening the project plan include:
- Enhance Communication Strategy: While various communication channels, as mentions, has the team considered developing an adaptable plan that beneficiaries of the project could take forward themselves. This would mean
- Explicit Evaluation Framework: While the project mentions constant documentation, evaluation, and adaptation of the process, it would benefit from a more explicit evaluation framework to measure the effectiveness and impact of activities. Define specific metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with project goals, such as participant engagement, knowledge acquisition, and community collaboration, and establish a structured approach for data collection and analysis to inform ongoing improvements and demonstrate project success.
- Participant Engagement: It would be good to know how the team intends to ensure meaningful and sustained engagement throughout the project lifecycle. Consider exploring ways to tailor activities and resources to address the specific needs and interests of different participant groups.
Answers to the feedback
editHello @YPam (WMF), thank you very much for the feedback and recommendations. We recognize that communication, evaluation and participant engagement are key for the success of our project. Even though the project has already been approved, I'm sharing some thoughts below
- The ideia of developing an adaptable plan, in which the participants are protagonists, is great. We'll work on this topic and develop a plan with the attendants of our meetings, addressing their needs, ideas and expectations.
- The metrics and goals will be better defined within the first weeks of the project. We'll work with WMB's learning reports system, SARA, where all the activities we implement will be related to the metrics they are attending, so we can keep track of success and report our learnings. All those small reports will collaborate to the writing of quarterly and semestral learning reports and case studies.
- The strategies for participant engagement will also be designed in the next few weeks, based on the data collected during our meetings, conversations and surveys with different stakeholders. We'll make sure it is adressing their needs and interests.
I'm available for any further questions or recommendations.
