Grants talk:Project/Maximilianklein/humaniki/Midpoint
Midpoint Report accepted
editThanks for submitting this Midpoint Report. You have made incredible progress on Humaniki! I’m approving the report now with the following comments:
- It’s great to see that you have established a robust team to accomplish the project goals. We appreciate that the hiring process for the Community UX Researcher and the Frontend Engineer has been organized and transparent.
- Thank you for your thorough approach to user research, including the literature review and participatory engagement of the community including users. It’s good to see that the community engaged has demonstrated high interest in the project -- as demonstrated by 54% participation response rate for interviews conducted as part of the user research phase of the project. It is great to see how the team has been able to incorporate feedback from this process into the continued design of the project.
- In relation to engineering, your team is making great progress merging the existing WHGI and Denelezh codebases, identifying and implementing the technology stacks. The results shared are promising and we look forward to seeing the final outcome.
- With regards to finance, you are on track as per the proposed budget. I see that you seek to reallocate funds to increase the support provided and needed by the UX Researcher and Frontend Engineer roles. The rationale provided is sound. The request to move funds dedicated to the Data Engineering position and Wikimania travel is reasonable and approved.
- Despite the challenges experienced we acknowledge the ability of the group to adapt and iterate on the go. You were able to take lessons learned from challenges experienced by building off what is working, navigating difficulties like COVID-19 and recruiting a diverse group of users with equal representation from English and non english speaking communities.
Overall, we commend you for an incredible project. We are impressed by the progress made this far with regards to community engagement, technical and engineering and team development. We look forward to seeing the great work you do in the next half of the project.
Warm regards,
Veronica Thamaini
