Hello Bijay chaurasia, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant request. It’s great to hear that with this grant request you plan to organize another Wiki Loves Villages in Nepal, documenting Nepalease villages for the Wikimedia projects. I have reviewed your proposal and have some questions:

  • Is this request submitted on behalf of any Wikimedia affiliate that you are a part of?
  • Could you please provide more details on what you plan to do differently during the third WLV?
  • Do you have any idea about what percentage of the villages already are already documented on Wikimedia Commons?
  • What the Miscellaneous costs will cover?

Looking forward to your responses. Thank you, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:11, 10 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, DSaroyan (WMF) Thank you for reviewing this proposal and Here‘s the answer:
  • I am basically a part of an affiliate, “Maithili Wikimedians User Group”, however, this grant proposal is not on the behalf of the affiliate that I belong to and is a mere individual grant. While my team includes members from different Wikimedia User Groups, it will ultimately bring in cultural diversity in the team to understand more about the different communities existing in Nepal. As mentioned, the prominent target in this project will revolve around Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia.
  • This project is the ultimate outcome of the previous two pilot projects that turned out to be really successful in increasing the media files and helped in enriching the articles. WLV was more of Photowalk but this project is entirely an online photo competition. This contest shall energize and motivate the Wikimedians along with Wikipedia readers to upload their photos of different villages, cultures, festivals, and communities clicked at different times.
  • On a surface level, we can say that about 20% of the villages are already documented on Wikimedia Commons leaving a huge gap yet to be covered and documented. This WLV 2020 Photo Content will help to cover around 50% and enrich the articles that are existing or yet to be made.
  • Miscellaneous costs are undocumentable expenses. They are generally a low amount of petty expenses for which the bill is not made available. It might include expenses such as local travel, postcard covers, stationeries, and the like.

Thank you, Best Regards --Bijay chaurasia (talk) 17:36, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
