Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Bswitaba/KCN SIG
Comments from I JethroBT (WMF)
editHi Bswitaba, my name is Chris Schilling, a program officer running the Rapid Grants program. Thank you for you proposal. I have two initial comments:
- First, we will not be able to review the proposal this month as January is reserved for proposals related to the Art+Feminism initiative that normally take place in February or March. Because of staff capacity, we are not able to review other proposals at this time, so I will be moving this proposal back to draft, and you can resubmit it for consideration starting on Feb. 1st. I would strongly recommend adjusting the scheduled dates for the event so we can get your funding to you in time if you wish to reapply.
- In your budget, we need more clarification over what expenses administrative costs are covering. Keep in mind that Rapid Grants can only be used for direct expenses and cannot be used to compensate people for their time.
With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 09:19, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Ineligible
editHello Bswitaba, thank you for your proposal focused on MediaWiki training and the development of the ICANNWiki Swahili project. I appreciate that you are looking to support open knowledge related to internet governance-related topics and prioritize increasing the accessibility to this information in your community. Unfortunately, because this proposal is primarily focused on improvements for a service outside of Wikimedia projects supported by the Wikimedia Foundation, it is out of scope for funding through our grant programs. We would be open to reviewing future proposals from you that more directly focus on Swahili Wikipedia or services that benefits Wikimedia projects and their communities.
