Hello Dfertileplain, thanks for submitting your application. I have reviewed it and there are a few questions I'd like you to respond to:

  • The last edit you made to Wikimedia content pages was in January 2022. Given this fact, we need to make sure that you have other experienced Wikimedians in the team in order to move forward with this grant request. Please add the usernames of all experienced Wikimedians who agreed to support you during these proposed activities.
  • Have you reached out to any Nigerian User Groups? Do you have their support?
  • How do you plan to actively engage participants in the editing process after the events if you are not actively editing Wikimedia projects anymore?
  • You mentioned that you plan to collaborate with Techpoint Africa but I couldn't find any collaboration details. How do you plan to collaborate? What will be Techpoint Africa's support in this project?
  • You haven't responded to question #2. As mentioned, please notify your relevant communities in advance and add links to question #2.
  • Who will be the target audience? What articles do you plan to edit?
  • Why is the project name still "Black History Month Instagram campaign and Edit-a-thon"? Do you plan to run any Instagram campaign?
  • Please note that this is the initial review of your application. Please do not confirm any activity until the final decision is made.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 12:00, 21 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Response to WMF

edit

Thank you so much DSaroyan (WMF) for your questions and the review. My response to your question are as follows:

  • I am still active in contributing to the Wikimedia projects especially on english Wikipedia but haven’t contributed much since January due to the IP block range associated with my IP but that I have fixed now. I also have reached out to experienced editors like SuperSwift & Kaizenify and they have both agreed to be part.
  • Yes, I shared the project with some of the leadership of the Wikimedia Nigeria UG which include Kaizenify and they are ready to support me.
  • I am still actively editing Wikipedia as my last edit was still at March 2022, was only stalled due to IP block issues on my network provider. I will ensure participants keep contributing by setting up weekly and monthly tasks, also tips of what to edit each week till they can edit on their own.
  • Techpoint Africa collaborative supports is extensively itemized on the grant page as they will be providing the participants, hall space and internet for the training and edit-a-thon.
  • ohh, my bad. I just did that now.
  • The target audience will be black persoms with imterest in technology and the contributions will be around improving and creating articles around black comtemts with concentration on technology driven articles amd biographies but not limited go just this.
  • The project still carries Black history month because it was borne out of the black history month celebration to actively improve black technology topics and still valid as participants are ready and edit are geared towards changing the black narratives on the Wikimedia projects. I won’t be running Instagram campaign, was finding it difficult to change the name prior but I asked for help now and now will easily change the name to remove Instagram.
