Hello fatawu25, thanks for submitting this Rapid Fund application. We are glad to learn that you plan to document the festivals of Northern Ghana. This is a really exciting project! I have a few questions and requests after reviewing your application:

  • Please share the Risk Assessment tool document, so that it is accessible to everyone through the link.
  • Could you please provide more information about the Dallung Wikimedians Community? Do you have a community page? How many members does your community have? What’s your community goal?
  • Could you share your community’s WhatsApp and Facebook group links?
  • Please update the probox (right sidebar) and include all target wikis.
  • Do you plan to make edits on any Wikipedia in terms of this project?
  • Your plan is to edit 200 Wikidata items. However, you have provided a list of 30 festivals only. Could you please bring some examples of other Wikidata items you will be editing?
  • Additionally, I would like to learn more about the photos. Why do you plan to take only 10 photos when the number of proposed festivals is 30? Will you be able to record any videos from the festivals?
  • How will you find information about these festivals? What sources will you use?
  • Is this grant requested on behalf of the Global Open Initiative? What will be GOI’s role in this project?
  • Dear Din-nani1, thanks for taking part in this project! Could you please confirm that you will support Ibrahim and lead the training sessions?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:42, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for reviewing the Rapid Fund application. Below are answers to the questions after your your review:

  • I have shared the Risk Assessment tool document, hence it's accessible to anyone with the link.
  • Dallung Wikimedians Community is a vibrant upcoming community located in the Northern part of Ghana, Kumbungu District precisely in a community called Dallung. It has it's genisis from the Dallung Community Library. It was setup to carry out a Wikidata project under Global Open Initiative. It has since been active and still growing to become a standard Wikimedia Community. We currently have an active membership of 29 and still to onboard more volunteers. The main objective of the community is to contribute to wikimedia projects and also campaign to create the awareness about Wikipedia and its sister projects to the people in my Community and Kumbungu district at large. Wikipedia being the fifth most visited site for free knowledge needs to be contributed to, and our community is poised to do that.
  • I have added the WhatsApp and Facebook group as Hyperlinks in the Rapid Fund application. We are in the process of creating a community page.
  • I have updated the probox and included all target wikis.
  • Yes, we plan to create/improve articles related to the Wikidata items that we will be working on since we have User:Din-nani1 from the Dagbani Wikimedians User Group to lead the training sessions.
  • We plan to edit 30+ items and hope to add 200 statements since we will be conducting research to uncover hidden festivals. The error has been fixed on the Rapid Fund application.
  • Those 10 photos will come from our training sessions and also add 30+ photos from the festivals. That means that we will at end upload 40+ photos.
  • We will surf the internet for information. Those that are not found on the internet, in-person visits will be made to various locations of such tribes that celebrate such festivals.
  • This grant is not requested on behalf of Global Open Initiative. GOI has nothing to do with this project hence will not play any role in this project.

Global Open Initiative is mentioned in the application in talking about how the community came about. Thank you. Fatawu25 (talk) 18:04, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Davit, Please I confirm that I will support Ibrahim in all the aspects of the project that he requires support for and the training sessions as well. Thank you. Din-nani1 (talk) 21:39, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
