Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Edit-a-thon Neuroscience and Mathematics
Adjustment in budget
editHi! More people than we had initially expected might join us at the edit-a-thon --nine people have already signed up--, and we are afraid we might lack snack. With that in mind, I have made a slight change in the budget, which has not affected the global budget: decreased the number of posters we will print and increased what we expect to spend on snacks. We have limited room in the computer lab we have secured, and considering our expectation that many people join this activity (which is awesome!), we will refrain from spreading posters on four departments we were thinking of (Medical School, Journalism, Engineering and Audiovisual Communication). I will communicate users who have endorsed this project on their respective talk page. Joalpe (talk) 13:24, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
Approved and comments
editHi Joalpe. Thanks so much for this grant request and your efforts to support better quality content on neuroscience and mathematics. It sounds like a well-organized project with a good partnership at the university, led by experienced Wikimedians. We are happy to support the editathon. We have seen editathon organizers be more successful in terms of recruiting new editors when organizing a series of editathons instead of just one. We encourage you to consider this for future activities. A series can be organized over several months, with each editathon teaching more advanced wiki skills. Online engagement and mentorship between events can also be very helpful. We look forward to hearing about how the editathon goes! Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 02:48, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
