Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Folkore Multimedia Recording 2022/Report
Report Review
edit1. Could you please add links to any project pages, Commons categories with videos, Outreach Dashboard, etc?
I have created two pages:
- One containing the stories which I am still working on (see on the attachment)
- Another contending photo links to wikicommons.
The idea is to make it for other editors to access the pictures as videos
I did not have a dashboard in this project.
2. It would be also nice to learn more about the content used on Wikimedia projects.
As said in the report, I had challenges publishing the stories in Portuguese and English. So there 72 articles which are working on to develop paragraphs about the moral of the stories with references so that they can be accepted for publication in Portuguese and English as intended. In that case, instead of publishing the story alone, there will be previous paragraphs that explain what the story talks about as background so that it can end with references.
3. Could you add more information on what specifically you would do next time to address the challenges faced in this project?
Instead of collecting the stories, next time, I will develop more research about the content of the story. However, I will have to focus on less stories because much research on what the story is about. As per now, If there was a research fund to improve the articles.
4. Could you describe how you achieved all the initial goals from your grant request?
- 1. Add new content in the form of video, photo and text about makhuwa oral literature (oral folklores told by the communities)
- We were able to achieve this goal. 36 videos added, 48 articles
- 2. Recruit new editors students from Universidade Rovuma, from the department of languages, communications and Arts
- I recruited a 22 committed multilingual users who can write all in Emakhuwa and Portuguese and some in English language
- 3. Engage existing editors who participated wikipedia project
- Some of the users of the contest are in the group.
- 4. Organize four photowalks in four communities to shoot folklores told by local members
- We managed to visit all the intended communities and collected stories. Indeed filming is time consuming so we were not able to collect 48 as planned but 36 videos.
- 5. Engage 88 participants from university students to community leaders and storytellers.
- Putting all the prticipantes together we were able to engage more than 88. I presented the list of the stories to a group of 67 students who strudy Emakhuwa and they are using them in their classes.
5. Would you confirm that you retain all financial documents from your project?
Yes, I have the receipts of my project expenses. Those funds used for food in the field we wrote a statement.
6. The remaining funds will be deducted from your next project if it is approved. Please retain these funds in your bank account.
I have applied for a project, which we called “digital Landscape 1.0”. It is a five year project and we want to start our first edition. I have created a group of users with lecturers and students from all of the 8 faculties at Universidade Rovuma. We want to identify content to publish on the internet through Wikipedia. Those remaining funds are part of the budget. Right now, Tochi is creating a meta page for our user group where all the Mozambican active editors will be invited to join. 197.218.109.162 03:02, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
