Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Kaizenify/Nigeria Independence Day campaign/Report
Comments from WMF
editHello Kaizenify, thanks for submitting this comprehensive grant report. We appreciate your work on creating the promotional video and running the awareness campaign for the Nigeria Independence Day. We are also excited about the outcomes of the organized editathon. I have reviewed the report and expense documents and have the following questions and comments:
- It is great that you had over 19,000 views for the video and your post on social media reached over 95,000 people! Did you have any viewers reaching out to you after watching the video? Could you please provide more information on what they were mostly interested in?
- You mentioned that “The campaign created a lot of awareness and got Nigerians talking about the value Wikipedia brought”. How did you measure the second statement?
- Did you share this video with the active Nigerian Wikimedians? Did you receive any feedback?
- The numbers for the created and improved content on Program & Event Dashboard are changes since you last reported. Could you please explain why?
- How many hours did you spend for video production, post production, and other related activities? Could you provide a small breakdown on the report page? Additionally, please also provide more details regarding the miscellaneous expenses included into the Video production costs.
- Similarly, would you please provide a breakdown for the “Souvenir for top participants” expenses, adding item descriptions, their costs, and the usernames of winners?
Thanks again for all your work on this campaign. I will look forward to your responses in order to mark this grant as complete. All the best, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:22, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Response from Kaizenify
editThank you DSaroyan (WMF) for the review and the kind words. And here are the responses to your questions.
- Yes we had some viewers reaching out after they saw the video and we were able to direct them into the Wikimedia Nigeria mailing list for further mentoring and follow-up. Their main interest fell in between Nigeria history on Wikipedia.
- This statement was derived from the comment box of the promoted video and also the response we received during the video production as result of the awareness it created while shooting as Nigerians were excited that Wikipedia chose to celebrate the Independence day with them.
- Yes, the video was shared on the official Wikimedia Nigeria community whatsapp group which housed over 200 Nigeria contributors and yes positive feedback was received.
- The metrics on the dashboard changed because at the time of documenting this report, editors were still contributing and also as we had to announce about the Afrocine contest during the edit-a-thon which started on October 1st so some contributions from Afrocine contest later reflected on the dashboard. So only the metrics for the campaign was captured on the report.
- For video production: We spent close to 5days in all for the video production as we interviewed 4 different personalities at different intervals. Post production took about 48hours of invested time and also several hours of brainstorming on the concept idea. A total of 17.76$ was spent on miscelleneous which was used to make calls and other bank charges in between.
- We gave sorvenirs of not more than 20,000 Nigerian Naira to 10 particpants due to their level of activity, comments and particpation mostly new contributors (as we had over 50% new partipants) during the online edit-a-thon on October 1st. We contracted the gift items to a sorvenir company (Pearls Concept) who disbursed the gift items to the selected partipants according to the partipants desired choice of gift items but not exceeding 20,000 Naira. The 10 partipants are:
- Adenekanfauziyah
- Dfertileplain
- Omoibadan
- Jesu-loba
- Here2Add
- Saliu Adenekan
- Jaito Fidelis
- Ibukun Bankole
- Lilian Ashiogbu
- Sunday Ogar
Thanks and let me know if you need more clarification. Kaizenify (talk) 22:23, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
