Questions and comments about your report
editHello, Nirajan pant. Thank you for your patience in our review of your grant project. We're curious to see how Doteli Wikipedia has developed or grown since its 1st anniversary, and we hope this has been an encouraging event for you to pursue future projects or programs. I have some questions and comments about your report before we mark it complete in our records:
- Almost a year has passed since the submission of this report; have there been any follow-up events or opportunities for you to engage or interact with the participants or community members involved with Doteli Wikipedians? What did you learn from the individual experiences and discussions?
- Have there been any efforts or updates about focus topics for articles and more content among the community?
- I notice that there has not been activity on the Doteli Wikipedians User Group page since March 2018. Have there been any developments or activities in the past year that we may have missed?
- You emphasized the lack of gender diversity at this event. Have you been able to address this in other activities or events, or think about spaces in which to involve a more inclusive audience?
In regards to the remaining 15,784 NPR / ~US$153 remaining from this grant report, I recognize that you wrote to rapidgrants wikimedia.org in February 2019 to reallocate the funds towards a new translatathon workshop that was proposed to take place on 16 March. Myself and other WMF staff were unable to address your request in time, and I apologize for the delay. I have emailed you to follow-up on your request, and have provided further instructions and clarifications. We appreciate your reply before moving forward.
In the meantime, I have accepted the expense documentation from this report. I will keep the report status to 'Under review' until we have reached a decision about the remaining funds.
Thank you again for your patience in our review. We look forward to your responses soon and to hear more about Doteli Wikipedia! Best, Morgan Jue (WMF) (talk) 23:17, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
Thank you MJue (WMF), for your reviews and comments. Thank you for putting the questions. Following are the my opinions in your questions.
1.Almost a year has passed since the submission of this report; have there been any follow-up events or opportunities for you to engage or interact with the participants or community members involved with Doteli Wikipedians? What did you learn from the individual experiences and discussions?
- After the 1st Anniversary celebration, the community has oranized and participated in Wiki Women Edit-a-thon Nepal 2018 (in collaboration with Wikimedians of Nepal and Maithili Wikimedians) and SVG Translation Workshop 2019 in Nepal. The event details has been added to the Doteli_Wikimedians_User_Group/Events page. The community has also participated in Wikicamp Nepal 2018.
- The discussion was very useful to understand the user perspective and interests. The users have showed positive response and social support to the Doteli Wikipedia. But being low density language and lack of the writing standards and well organized grammar, peoples are hesitated to write. Besides these circumstances, the Wikipedia has organic growth.
2. Have there been any efforts or updates about focus topics for articles and more content among the community?
- Not yet. But a little focus was on the articles about literature in Nepali. And planning to focus the efforts on contents beneficial for secondary school students.
3. I notice that there has not been activity on the Doteli Wikipedians User Group page since March 2018. Have there been any developments or activities in the past year that we may have missed?
- The activities have been updated.
4. You emphasized the lack of gender diversity at this event. Have you been able to address this in other activities or events, or think about spaces in which to involve a more inclusive audience?
- Till the date we are unable to address the gender gap issue here in Nepal. Many attempts have been made to attract the Woman contributors but due to the lack of Technology Awareness and social circumstances they all have discontinued.
The translation workshop have already been completed with the help of CIS-A2K. I will keep the remaining unspent grant for the next event. As your suggestion, I will spend the remaining grant in another event and let you know here in this page. --Nirajan pant (talk) 05:12, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
Report accepted
editHello Nirajan pant. Thank you for your extensive replies! I appreciate the updates you provided and I hope this project continues to gain momentum and include new members into your future activities. I have accepted this report and closed out this grant.
To follow-up for the remaining funds from this project: please retain the remaining 15,784 NPR for a future Rapid Grant submission or post a follow-up request to use them for mission-aligned activities, so that we can deduct and reconcile the unused grant funds. When you do so, please be sure to write to rapidgrants wikimedia.org with your request before spending the funds. Thanks once more for your patience, and for your contributions to the movement! Cheers -- Morgan Jue (WMF) (talk) 22:22, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
