Hi Flixtey and Alangi derick, and thanks for your report on the outcomes from your training pilot in Ghana. I have some comments and questions for you:

  • Your results in terms of community building and setting a foundation for future programs and events are good: You've established a mailing list with a sizeable number of African developers, and an IRC channel for questions and discussion amongst developers. What's the e-mail address for this mailing list, and what is the IRC channel you've setup? Would you consider adding these to Mailing_lists/Overview and IRC/Channels?
  • I understand that some time is needed before you can report on this community progress on technical tasks and problems. For now, could you describe a few technical issues that this community of developers is actively working on?
  • Nice work with messaging for your event; I think you've set up a good system of reminders and confirmations to maximize participation, and I believe creating a margin of error for future event participation is a responsible choice. Have you been able to contact ascertain why some participants have been unable to attend, or have they been unresponsive?
  • It's great to hear that your event inspired others to plan a similar event in their own country. You've set a good example for event planning and engaging African developers, so congratulations on the recognition. You've earned it!

Congratulations on this successful training event with developers. This report is officially approved! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 00:08, 11 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
