@Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton: Hi Rodrigo, thank you for submitting this rapid grant application to prepare a series of videos on using and contributing to Wikimedia Commons for new users. Our team has reviewed it and would like to make a funding decision as soon as possible. To help us make that decision we have a few questions and comments regarding your application:

• You have done an excellent job of explaining what the videos will cover, and what skills newcomers can learn from these videos. Could you please add how you expect them to get used in the movement, and what impact you will expect them to have?

• In a similar vein, could you please edit the application to include details on what your communication and/or distribution plan is for the videos?

• Finally, we’d appreciate knowing a few more small details about the videos: Are you envisioning that they will be animated, like the samples you submitted, or live-action? What is your target length for the videos, both the long ones and the shorter segments?

I already include some information asked for at the grant request.

Some other information:

• About the videos format, I was thinking in something inspired on this:

Wikipedia | Nerdologia Tech

A mix of screen, live-action, and some animation.

To do the length of the video, the budget to Estúdio 42 (the editors of this video) accomplish this task is a little bit to high for us. So the idea is created something in the same direction, but simpler.

• About the communication:

I explained there the channels that I will use, but explaining why I did not include social media:

I have access to the Commons Facebook, but the engagement is so minimum and being a global account I do not know if this is a good way to spread these videos, but I can reach the volunteer responsible for Wikipedia in Portuguese at Facebook, that have a greater engagement.

However, at this moment, I do not know if the social media is a great place to spread the videos. In Brazil, Facebook has every time less and less impact for the 14-25 years old Brazilians, so it will probably will not be a good strategy. For Instagram, the most impactful social media for us, I will need to create another material quite different from the video format that I have in mind to fit there. YouTube could be very expansive with low return for us.

We can create a strategic approach in social media, and invest the same amount of money in better ways, reaching more people, and engaging the correct public for us. But this will require a lot more energy, some research and use the correct players for us; I do not believe that is suitable for this Rapid Grant, do to the energy and time required.

During campaigns as Wiki Loves, we can include the short video in their social media material.

Ineligiblity

@R.T.Argenton: Hi Rodrigo, I've reached out to you over e-mail explaining this in further detail, but the proposal is ineligible for review due to continued lack of compliance with behavioral expectations for grantees. This relates to pattern of of uncivil and at times attacking language during onwiki disputes, which has been brought to your attention in past grant proposals. You will be eligible to reapply for grants on 19 Feb 2019 with the understanding that you 1) you do not engage in conduct that results in a block on any Wikimedia Project, and 2) avoid any kind of behavior that is considered inconsistent with the Friendly Space expectations by other community members.
