Hi Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton, and thanks for your proposal for preparing these videos to introduce and train volunteers on using and contributing to Wikimedia Commons. I really appreciate that you've provided some of your past work for us to review-- these videos look very well-produced and are carefully described on Commons (e.g. commons:File:Galton box.webm). I had a few questions for clarification:

  • Are there others involved in the project besides yourself with regard to some of the budgeted activities (e.g. Art Design, screenwriting, post-production, etc.)? Will you need to hire anyone to take on these roles?
  • The timeline here seems fairly strict to me, but let me know if I am mistaken-- is it feasible to produce a 7-minute video and 10 additional 3-minute videos within the span of two months? There is no issue with requesting a month or two of additional time if that would be helpful.

With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 17:29, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jethro,
Thank you for reading my proposal, and for the appreciation, this is important for volunteers. :)
Yes, the idea is to hire professionals to occupy some papers, to have a more impactful material.
I know that in a "normal" rapid grant request it is not allowed, but in the given example for grant for videos seems to be okay, I was about to ask about it, but I forgot. It's okay, right? In the past I contact several professionals to have a budget base to type down this project.
To be more precise the Art designers I have 3 names, for Screenwriter I have 2 names. All are very capable, working for major communication companies here, but they are very affordable now, due to the Brazilian economy going quickly to a hole, and consequently the dollar sky rocking.
For post and directing, I am using my own resources, and contacts, to be more affordable, one 10 min video produced to the start to finish would cost around 50'000 BRL, now something close to 8,5K USD, is quite bizarre but understandable, as produce media here in Brazil is very expansive.
I am part of the informal group: foto.wiki.br, that could also help in this project.
Indeed it is a tight schedule, I was thinking in having this material to be used at WLE in Brazil (July 2020) that I'm one of the organizers. But you are right, I will extend the deadline.

@R.T.Argenton: Thanks for your response and clarifications. At an earlier time, it was the case that we were not funding general compensation needs through Rapid Grants, but have opened that up a bit more with respect to video production as well as some other kinds of roles. This set of roles for video production is appropriate and we are happy to support your efforts. Thanks for letting me know that you have some folks in mind for these roles as well. I'll be moving ahead to fund this shortly. :) I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:17, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Extension of the deadline

edit

Hi all,

Due to the pandemic, I had issues with the money transfer, as you already know, for this fact I delayed all the tasks in months.

To guarantee the same quality proposed, can I establish a new deadline for 2020-11-15?

Thank you. Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 07:34, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello R.T.Argenton, thanks for posting your request — I'm approving it. The new end date for your grant is 15 November 2020 with the reporting due date on 15 December 2020. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:22, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
