Grants talk:Project/Rapid/SuperHamster/Hackathon 2022 District of Columbia
Thank you for applying to host a local meetup at the Wikimedia Hackathon! We are so grateful you took the time to put together a proposal, and are highly impressed by your work. We have some questions regarding your application. Please address these questions as soon as possible.
- We do not see a COVID risk assessment for your application. Will you please fill one out and share the link?
- Would you be interested in having a WMF staff member attend or support the event? (This will not affect your application).
Thank you again for your proposal! Our regards, The Hackathon Local Meetup Committee
- @HLepp (WMF): Thank you for the response! For the risk assessment, it is my understanding that as of March 29 the requirement has been removed. Let me know if I still need to fill it out and I'll be happy to.
- We'd love to have WMF staff members attend! We've already invited one and plan to invite more, and we will welcome anyone else who would like to come. If the WMF is interested in presenting on any technical topics, we can support that as well.
- Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 21:50, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @SuperHamster! Thanks so much for your quick reply. You're right, the requirement has just been lifted. You're good to go! We'll be in touch very soon. HLepp (WMF) (talk) 18:15, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
Committee Decision
editCongratulations! This proposal has been funded. A few next steps:
- If you have not already been in touch with the Wikimedia Grants team, please respond immediately.
- Post your meetup on the Hackathon Local Meetups page.
- List yourself as a participant.
- Get started implementing your event!
- Don't forget, you will need to submit a report summarizing your event by the end of June.
Again, our sincere congratulations. --HLepp (WMF) (talk) 00:58, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
Reallocate funds for travel
editHi @HLepp (WMF): We've underspent quite a bit, thanks to a combination of finding good deals + having fewer participants than expected. Our underspending so far includes:
- $500 surplus for space reservations
- $400 surplus for Friday night social
- $250 surplus for snacks, soda, coffee, etc. (provided by space)
I was wondering if we would be able to re-allocate unspent funds to reimburse participants for travel costs? This could include transit, parking, flight, and hotel costs. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 20:00, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi! Good question. Let me get back to you on this! HLepp (WMF) (talk) 17:39, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
